How to get rid of flabby arms/legs?

#21

You’re very welcome Carol!

I buy from a high quality company “Nature’s Way” (available at the Natural Grocer’s stores and some drugstores, as well as online). 120 caps for $8, what a deal! Just make sure whatever supplier you buy from doesn’t use strange fillers or is potentially adulterated with nasty stuff (as the Chinese and Indian supply chains for powdered spices and bulk herbs are frequently having issues with, due to unscrupulous middle men) - any supplier with GMP certified facility should be good.

Hi Carol,
Don’t have an answer for you but I’m in the same boat! I’m 61 and lost 21 lbs over 5 months, have maintained for 1 month, so bought myself a new swim suit for motivation. It looks great on my newly trim belly but oh my goodness, my inner thighs! I’ve actually had the flabby upper arms for several years now and have just attributed it to age.

So, I ordered grass fed beef collagen which actually just arrived today. I’ve had hair loss also so figured it might help with both skin and hair (also going to make some “healthy” gummie bears for my Grands). I work full time in front of a computer at home so am trying to do squats, resistance bands every couple hours also.

I’ll let you know if any of this helps. My expectations are pretty low, honestly, because I think age, loss of skin elasticity plays a huge part. Still happy to have lost the the belly and feel so much better with this WOE. Just need to find a cute sarong for the beach.

I wanna hear about the superficial effleurage again though :star_struck::heart_eyes:

You bet. I’m thinking my habits of just walking a lot at work in 10-20 minute burst have helped. Initially I did it for stress management, but if @SlowBurnMary 's knowledgedumps have taught me anything, the circulation from just moving and sweating will help.

Retinol cream has been a game changer for me. I use it on my face, neck, and basically anywhere that begins to look ‘crepey’. Especially when i am losing weight. The type I use is called Tretinoin. I get it from my dermatologist. It’s about $45/6 month supply. It can be irritating to sensitive skin. Your doc could explain further. It totally works. It helped a lot with my post pregnancy belly. (That was over 10 yrs ago)

Nothing entertaining or catering intended about effleurage and lymphology, more about education & enlightenment as they make sense for students of body recomposition, for sure.

In all seriousness I think it’s fascinating and had no idea of it’s impact. I think I’ve been on the edge of application with my solar neoprene belt, as occasionally in heavy workout classes I’ve felt a really deep but not uncomfortable heat that just felt like it was radiating from everywhere. And I normally loathe being hot, wearing moisture wicking clothes all the time these days.

A must!:

I’m about to try slow weight workouts while fasting to see if I can speed up autophagy. I figure if my body has muscles it needs to repair while I’m fasting, it’ll break down more of my old cells to do it.

This is the book, but I’ve also heard the author talking about it on a podcast (think it was STEM Talk)

So would eating fresh ginger root be a better option?

Personally, I can’t do capsules while fasting, and I really don’t like the taste of dried ginger as in teabags etc - but fresh ginger tea (grated or just a few fine slices) with a drop of lemon juice is heaven, and warms me up very quickly at those times in a fast when I feel cold.
Nice to read about all the other potential benefits - looks like I have to pick up some more ginger today then
