How old can meat be frozen

(Christopher Kornelsen) #1

My mom bought a grass fed cow in 2017. She has a bunch of the steak and such so I’m wondering if it’s still good to eat if anyone knows this stuff?

It would depend on how it’s packed. If it’s vacuum seals probably still fine. If not probably significant freezer burn after two years. The only way to know is if you do some trimming and find out how deep. Maybe you can save some of it if they are like thick roasts. :cowboy_hat_face:

I have been using the meat from my grass fed beef order from the fall of 2017 still, and have not had any problems. It is all packed in the thick pinky red butcher meat from the abitoire (as your mom’s probably is as well?) and we have all been fine. The meat is still perfect. It is still way better meat then what you get at the grocery store that is injected with dyes, a lot of the meat from the grocery store has been injected with hormones, etc. so I think you are perfectly fine eating her meat order =).

I have had steaks as well as a couple of roasts from my mothers freezer after she passed away. The package stamp was 12/16. It was all still very good.
