I usually eat twice per day in a regular-sized portion of food.
Skipping breakfast every day, sometimes postponing a lunch and always eating in late afternoon. From time to time can’t help and eat 1/4 - 1/3 of butter at night - must stop to buy the delicious one.
How much and how often do you eat?
I eat somewhat randomly. I just moved in with my sister and father, and our routine is still a bit in flux. But we have supper together somewhere between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m., after my sister gets home from work, and I occasionally have a snack late in the evening. I don’t normally want breakfast until around two in the afternoon, and that is usually bacon and eggs, both of which I like quite a bit, although sometimes I will have leftovers from one of our evening meals.
I seem to be doing a lot of the cooking for the evening meal, which is great, because I get to make keto dishes. (Everybody loves them.) Tonight we had steak with carmelized onions (fried in last night’s bacon drippings) and summer squash (from the local farmers’ market) in lots of butter. Last night it was chicken and herbs pan-fried in coconut oil and a recipe my sister calls “fully loaded cauliflower,” which is basically chopped and covered with cheese and bacon. Sometimes we have salad, which I eat with chunky bleu cheese dressing. (No salad tonight, though.)
My sister and my niece often leave some of their breakfast bacon and eggs behind, which I will finish (along with the bacon juice) if I’m feeling peckish when I wake. If I do that, I may or may not eat between then and supper; it depends.
I recently bought some heavy cream to try putting in my coffee. It’s very rich, but surprisingly tasty. I’ve been drinking black coffee for so long I didn’t think I’d like it. I drink a lot of coffee and the cream is very filling, so I’ve only been putting it in one or two cups, not all of them.
I don’t know how much I’m eating, whether in calories or grams. I just eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m satisfied. These days that happens long before I actually feel full.
I’m somewhere around 200 lbs. at the moment, down from 247. I have been playing with my scale and have discovered that its readings can vary considerably. Two days ago, I weighed 196.8 before the shower, 203 immediately after the shower, and 198.4 after finishing toweling my hair. So I’ve been getting on it at random times and being amused by how the much the weight fluctuates. This afternoon, I weighed myself before and after a bowel movement–“gained” four pounds just by sitting on the john!
I eat between 900 and 1400 calories a day. I eat twice a day most days: lunch around 1pm and dinner around 6pm. Lately, I’ve been eating one meal a day (OMAD) a few days a week, around 6pm. On the OMAD days, I have a three to four course meal over an hour. Usually I start with a big salad, then protein, a cheese plate, then finally a dessert that always includes protein powder or eggs.
With little rhyme or reason: 2 out of 7 days, roughly, I eat nothing. Just black coffee, usually. 2 out of 7 days strictly keto and not much - like a can of tuna or a couple cans of sardines, and then some pork rinds and/or a piece of cheese. The other 3 days could involve fasting, or larger keto meals, or horrible off-plan activities.
I’ve been having the exact same experience as you with the scale and funnily enough I am also amused at how some activities can make the scale go beserk. I now weigh myself twice, morning and night, and just go “hmmm” … I don’t get any usable info from this but it’s part of my ritual
Im a tiny human at about 4’11 and 45 kgs and i eat roughly 1500 calories a day. Im feeling like a bit of a beast reading these. I am still pretty hungry all the time and today being Friday here and a treat day of peanut butter calling i think i could hit 2500 calories!! Face palm!
I like to eat twice per day and sometimes a random arvo snack of butter if im starving. Try to do twice per day with a big dinner before bed.
I eat 2 meals a day usually, once in a while one meal for the day, and I do an occasional fast of 36-60 hours. My last fast was a fat fast of 60 hours. My daily calorie intake fluctuates between 400 and 2400, with an average of 1575. I’m 5’2" and 121 lbs, post-menopausal.
Calories don’t matter anymore. Eat when you are hungry and stop when you’re full. Just choose fatty stuff.
Yes, this is how I do it too. I keep rough track of how many carbs I eat, but I don’t obsess over it. Other than that, I don’t worry about calories. When I have tracked, it varies from around zero (fasting) to over 4000 (feasting). I usually eat once or twice per day.
Eat when you’re hungry. Stop when you’re full. Try not to snack. If you have to snack between meals, you’re probably not eating enough during your meals.
I think there’s nothing wrong with tracking calories. However, tracking calories doesn’t necessarily improve health, nor does it guarantee weight loss.
