After 6 months Keto I have lost 40 pounds and am now at 11% fat. Lean mass is said to be 164 lbs (I’m now 185 lbs) but I need to have energy for backpacking so 1) where do I stop, and 2) what’s the best way to gain weight without excessive carbs seeing that i’m insulin resistant. (or I think I still am)
I believe your body will let you know when you’ve lost enough fat. When we reach a certain point, our hunger hormones will adjust to try to stop weight loss and preserve some body fat for an emergency. At least mine did. My ghrelin became more active and fasting become more difficult and my leptin levels decreased and it took more food to satisfy me. I’m just pleased that all of this happened when I reached my goal weight. I could stand to lose another ten pounds but I’m not going to fret over it.
