How long has the anti-meat crusade been going on?

Interesting, I did not know any of that.

We have someone who is Jewish and tries to remain kosher, although it’s difficult when she visits us. Even though she does not ask us to do so, we try to keep as “kosher” as possible. But some of the rules are difficult. Fish is strange, for instance. Fish with skin is not kosher, but fish with scales is OK.

The hardest thing, though, is the dairy/meat prohibition. This is also one possible reason there is higher heart disease in Israel, as the obvious thing to do is use seed oils.

Personally, I don’t see why both science and religion can’t coexist.

I also have listened (since I have a 30+ minute drive each way to/from work) to many texts, including an interesting one comparing Jesus and Mohammad. There were many parallels (not much is known of either’s upbringing, for instance), but differences too.

#BringBackSchmaltz

It’s a bit off topic, but if you guys ever get a chance,“Schmaltz and Gribenes” is crunchy deliciousness. It’s like the chicken skin version of pork rinds, and you’re left over with delicious rendered chicken fat. I’ve even heard people call the crispy bits “Jewish bacon” :bacon:

We were going to make latkes with schmaltz, but schmaltz is hard to find in any quantity. And there’s bias now against animal fats. People think they’re bad, even when they were what we originally used.

Interesting:

I also be back when we had chickens raised mainly outside, with the right grains, we had a nice amount of saturated fat in them.
