How long does it take to go off keto?

(Miro) #1

So my radiation is done this week for my terminal cancer.

At this point I will be going off keto. I am finding I need to enjoy time with kids and take some pictures of us doing/eating what I use to eat and snack with kids. Right now I have my own meal to the rest of the family.

I am finding myself light headed in the morning and I am missing all the strawberry blueberry blackberries and fresh Summer time fruits.

What can I say, I choose at this point to have some normal times constantly counting net carbs.

Checking blood glucose/ketones I am again at .6 even when I stay under 20 net carbs

I don’t want to get gut rott. How long or how easy/gradually should I un-keto?

I may be back but being I have 6-9 months, even if keto adds a month, I’ll pass on that last month.

I would also like to thank everyone for their help and answers to questions.

M.

If the 6-9 months is true then go ahead and enjoy life. However, if they think that there is a chance you could have longer than do whatever you can to prolong your life (my thoughts).

That said, I’d easy off a bit, so its not a total shock to your system. I know some people just dive back into what they were eating, but you should find what works for you.

Wishing you the best!

You can just start eating normal, you may have a day or three where you have a carb hangover but it’ll pass pretty quick. Have you looked into any alternative treatments like the ones Dr Seyfried talks about? Hyperbaric oxygen, fasting, glutamine blocking drugs etc? Sure as hell can’t hurt.

@MiroBeero I am so sorry to hear about your projected outcome. Remember that it isn’t written in stone, many folks live much longer than doctors say they have. They usually tell you less time so they look like the hero when you live longer. I truly wish you the best. :cowboy_hat_face:
