How I successfully fought major cravings today

#1

All day I’ve struggled with the urge to go to the shop and buy crisps (and let’s face it, chocolate, cake, and whatever the hell else would’ve taken my fancy because once the urge has been indulged - it’s binge time in my brain!). All day. Instead I had some cashews…some keto brownies (perhaps in an effort to trick my brain into thinking I was having something naughty). The bottom line is, I resisted, but it wasn’t easy.

Just now I went upstairs on a whim and decided to go through my wardrobe and if only I had done this earlier today I am sure all those cravings would have been quashed immediately. I’ve lost a decent amount since March - 39lbs/17kg/2.7 stone but I was still very surprised at having to completely retire two pairs of jeans because they literally fall off me now. And my nice “when I’m thinner” clothes that now fit nicely.

There really is no better affirmation and encouragement to keep going with keto and I urge anyone struggling with carb/sugar cravings to consult your wardrobe before doing anything else!

Welcome to the forum, twinklytwink.

I have lost 43 pounds since February but no big changes in wardrobe yet; perhaps this is because I still have an additional 130 or more to go! I have fit into two elastic waist pants and 2 t-shirts that I haven’t worn for a while. I am still wearing the same things, my fat I guess is coming over from all different areas so clothing hasn’t seen a big change yet for me. I am looking forward to this though! I don’t have any big temptations though, and haven’t cheated at all since May 13 (I did go to a Sushi restaurant for Mother’s Day May 12 with my 3 daughters and grand daughter but was careful, did not go crazy but had some of the rice in the sushi).

Best wishes in your continued Keto journey.

Just remember: you can have all you want of that stuff—tomorrow! Just not right now, okay?

Congratulations on your weight loss, and especially congratulations on resisting the cravings! I know how tough that is. You’re doing great!

@Momof5, I can so relate! And my logic has been the same: since I have plenty to lose (overall about 35 kilos, of which I’ve lost 12 so far) the fat I have lost must be distributed in a fairly thin layer all over. So while my trousers now zip easily and nothing really binds, except for things that started too large (few and far between!), there’s been no change in size so far. But wearing my bra all day is now comfy, and I get more … acreage … from my undies :-). The places I really see significant differences are those areas that didn’t really start with very much flesh (unlike my tummy!). My wrists, for instance, no longer bulge, and my hip curves are smoother and less Michelin Man. It’s still all for the good, and I’m satisfied with my [far slower than Twinklytwink’s] pace!

Hello Twinkly  Welcome. IMP experience, after breaking my carb addiction (been eating for Keto for 10 weeks) I really don’t have any cravings for carbage anymore. If I had to use willpower to stay away from carbs, Id have already failed. I just have the “gift” of OCD. So after 10 weeks, instead of getting lazy, or lax, Im going the other direction, with thoughts of long term fasts, hard core cardio exercising, and even both at the same time  lol

At this point, Id have to try hard “not” to be doing Keto ! Completely sucked in  lol
