How have I been missing this

(Consensus is Politics) #1

So before posting what I came here to post tonight, I thought I’d search for it first, as not to be redundant.:sunglasses:

To my surprise there are dozens of hits on it. Non of which I have seen before, and going back about a year or so!

I’m talking about a documentary on Netflix (that I’m watching as I write this, and they are featuring Tim Noakes at the 40 minute mark). I refer to The Magic Pill. I have no idea how long it has been on Netflix. I stumbled into it by accident.

I must say, it is very good (so far, I still have another 45 minutes or so to go😎). I will say this, be forewarned, you may need a box of tissues. It broke my heart when the little girl wouldn’t eat for five days. And then the next thing you know she’s eating everything they give to her now, while using a fork! Did I mention she is on the spectrum? Her parents were surprised that she wasn’t using her bare hands. […sniff… it was a beautiful thing]

Ok, I said my piece, I got to get back and finish watching this.

Thanks for the reminder. We just signed up for Netflix today.

Nothing wrong with being on the spectrum, we all are to some degree.

Nothing wrong with living a life style based upon Keto and fasting. And yes, they both truly help everyone’s mental health and balance.

Isn’t it amazing what eating real food does?:heart_eyes::thinking::thinking::scream:

I’m so bummed out I can’t get Netflix and have very little ability to listen to any of the pod casts people rave about.

I live in a rural area and get our internet through HughesNet, but when we go over a certain amount of data, it slows down so much as to make it almost unusable.

I got to download one podcast this month and listen to it before my son burned through all our data within the first few days of the month. I’ve been waiting since the 6th and won’t get more data until the 26th before I can down load another.

We don’t even bother trying to stream any movies or shows so no sense having Netflix.:disappointed:

The Perfect Human Diet is available on Amazon Prime, it’s also a great keto supportive movie that I found quite interesting, just found it last night!

We all explore and find at our own pace!

ouch! That’s tough! I’m pretty sure I’d jump in line ahead of the son

(Chris) #8

Its also on youtube. watch it at work like the rest of us

Currently the only thing on youtube is the trailer for The Magic Pill. The 90 minute movie is not.
You can buy the DVD though on Amazon or Ebay.

(Chris) #10

Ok, it was on YT for a bit free

(Marta Loftfield) #11

@Anniegirl9 do you have good cell phone service? We live in the boonies too and frequently use our phone internet to run Netflix on the TV.

#12

amazing I get better internet than rural “USA”

(LeeAnn Brooks) #13

Yeah, I don’t think that’s going to be possible. Costco has great benefits, but allowing me to surf the Net for fun isn’t one of them.

(LeeAnn Brooks) #14

Nope, that sucks too. We can’t drop our land line because cell service is too spotty. Of course it doesn’t help that my house is a berm house, so a good portion of it is underground.

(Mandy) #15

Eeeek!! That’s grounds for a relocation.

#16

or satellite internet

(Doug) #17

:stuck_out_tongue: “grounds”

(Deborah ) #18

Ooh, thank you, haven’t seen that one and I do have Amazon Prime! I’ll be watching!

Oh, if only. I’ve been working on my husband since I married him (21years). He built the house himself and his parents live up the road and own all the land surrounding us. Over 100 acres.
Then his daughter bought the field between our place and his parents and built a house, so our grandkids are right next door. Pretty sure that was the nail in the coffin of my dreams to move, but I still keep working on him.

My brother was in a similar situation. He lives on a farm in rural Indiana. The closest town, he lives on the edge of, had recently had cable run to it. Dan fed [damned his luck, thanks iPhone auto correct] his luck he was about 1,000 feet too far out. He was making a deal with the cable company. He’d pay for the poles, if they hooked him up. Deal fell through, saved him a lot of money. Those poles are expensive.

Paid off in the end for him. He ended up with crappy satellite internet, which prompted him to get wireless service from next closest town about 15 miles away. He happened to have a hamm antenna on the house, over 100 feet high. He put a pizza box sized wireless antenna up there and bada bing bada boom, he had 3 Mb internet. Right up there with the rest of the town. One of his friends who was also out of the cable service area asked if he could share his internet with him, in the same manor as his ISP. He calls me up, starts asking tons of networking questions. That’s when he told me the story.

Ok, now to shorten this up… My brother began selling access to his internet connection on a monthly basis. He did it with his ISPs blessing:scream:.

His business bloomed! He had roughly a thousand customers or so after about two years. He ended up selling his company to another ISP.

So, it’s not a forgone conclusion you ant have internet there. You may not be as isolated as you think. If you can get line of sight with a wireless carrier. They may not give you the best speeds. But even 3 Mbs is very doable with minor buffering.
