How do you plow through a meal?

#21

Since I eat all my food together, by the time that thought even crosses my mind, my food is all gone (and yes, I know I need to eat my food slower)

Oh wait, you said ā€˜all joking aside’ sorry. But no, have never thought of a meal in that way.

I don’t like fish no matter what, but that platter was too nice not to use as an example

I just eat until I stop. I’m MOSTLY pretty good (after several months of learning) at knowing how much I need to eat now to get to feeling full.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

I usually fill my plate once, eat, and I’m done. But could i eat more? Maybe. Should I eat more? Who knows. I guess I still struggle with satiety. I feel like I can just eat and eat but have never really tried that. Was considering trying it with two pounds of bacon.

Bro, that’s SCIENCE in its purest form. I don’t see how you can NOT do it now you’ve outlined the question and the testing method. Time to test the hypothesis!

I was raised to leave a little bit on my plate for ā€œMiss Mannersā€. So that your hostess would know that you have had enough. I have no idea where that came from.

Had to think about it. Sometimes I eat one thing then the next. Sometimes I mix things up on the plate / fork. And sometimes I go around the plate eating a little of everything in a kind of a circle.

I often do save the best thing on the plate for the last bite regardless of the eating style.

Some depends on exactly what’s on the plate. Some things just naturally compliment other things on the same plate while other times they don’t so much.

If I have sauerkraut and hotdogs, I like them together in the same bite. If I’m having asparagus and salmon, I’d rather not have them on the same fork at the same time even though I like both just fine. So it kinda matters what for me.

Somewhere wasteful

Fish should be grilled, fried or broiled!!! Not RAW!!!

(Running from stupidity) #29

You missed ā€œbinned.ā€ HTH

(Jane) #30

Uh… is that the same as canned or tinned???

As in tuna?

(Running from stupidity) #31

As in ā€œin the binā€ as happened with the tin of salmon this morning when my wife discovered it had bones in it

(Jane) #32

I have enough of a hard time plowing through Dutch, Portuguese, French and Mandarin w/o figuring out Aussie slang!!!

#33

You can eat the bones in tin salmon, can’t you?

(Running from stupidity) #34

Most people can…

I tried something like this the night before last. While I typically would eat 1 6oz burger with keto microwave bun w/ cheddar, jalepenos, mayo and 2 cups of brocolli, I ate 2 6oz burgers with the same amount of veg. I must say it’s first time in a month where i didn’t feel like ā€œI really wish could keep eatingā€ and I wasn’t completely stuffed, but I felt full. I did a 16/8 today with just a 1/4 cup or roasted mushrooms and 4 oz of chicken for lunch and moderate dinner tonight. Yesterday’s totals were 2600 calories with 212 protein and 171 fat. Today’s were 1600 calories, 124/116 and I feel pretty good. On the scale I’m only down a pound this week but I’m really close to my target weight… like 9 pounds away.

So what’s my N=1 from this? It’s ok to say screw the macros (just not the 20 carbs) occasionally and just eat until you are full. Now I won’t do this every day but I believe putting your ghrelin hormones (hunger hormones) fully in check, from time to time, isn’t a bad thing.

(Jane) #36

But soft bones!!!

Takes a bit of used to when you crunch down on them!!!

#37

Tell your wife to eat her calcium. It’s good for her.

(Running from stupidity) #38

No, YOU tell her

#39

Nah, I’m good. I still have 3 days to wait before my newly acquired life insurance takes effect.

(Running from stupidity) #40

Hey, it was YOUR idea, mate.
