How do I get back into ketosis?

(Becky Ingram) #1

I have been on this diet for a couple of months now and love the way I feel, so much better. I have been traveling for a couple of weeks now and have been kicked out of ketosis. I can’t seem to get back in. The test strips show no color at all not even negative so I don’t know where I am ! Any suggestions please?

Started producing keytones now what?

If you are using your ketones for fuel they may not show on the strips, which is often why people say blood tests are more accurate. If you are eating below 20g of carbohydrate a day and having mild to moderate protein, you are undoubtedly in ketosis.

It is very possible to be in ketosis and not register ing on pee strips.

Blood tester or breathalyzer are more accurate.

Agreed. I’m 40+ hours into a spontaneous fast and although my el-cheapo breath meter is reading high acetone, I’m getting absolutely nada on the pee sticks.

I keep the Fat and salt up when I need to get back into ketosis and don’t worry to much about testing

The keystones excreted in your urine are excess keytones your body makes but can’t use. The longer you are in ketosis the more efficient your body gets at making only the keytones you need and using those keytones. Your body strikes a balance so you don’t have an excess so you will find less and less in your urine.
