Funny you say that, I am exactly the same. If you stand me next to my sister you can see we are the same height and size but my bones stick out and hers dont’t. She weighs probably 8kg less than me. I also was a competitive swimmer despite having a BMI over 25 (I was the lifesaving and swim champ at school, but came dead last in the cross-country running lol).
Since I’ve added resistance training my weight has plateaued out at normal BMI, but my measurements keep getting smaller and I can see my muscles much more than when I just did cardio.
So, after this ramble my advice to OP is ignore the scale. Or just check in with it every so often. My weight can fluctuate up to 3kg over the course of a day, easily.
You’re doing great, don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t all drop off straight away. Fat loss isn’t linear. Best of luck.
How did I do? Can't tell if the weigh in was good?
Oh thank God… i was worried about hitting the weights and totally stalling out. I used to weight train before i gained all this weight back and ive been fearful that doing weight training when i have so much extra weight to lose…will make me look bigger or bulkier just cause of the water retention from lifting
We were given a BoFlex this weekend and though I don’t want to look like a beefier version of an already curvy gal, I’m so excited about using it and I’m going to have faith that more muscle will burn more fat instead of pinning all my hopes on treadmill cardio.
The post lift water retention will happen - it’s a vital part of the process but it’s a worthwhile process
I keep thinking about how to get the LCHF message to the American South, the states, on average, with the highest poverty and highest obesity rates, and once they tell them they can’t have their sweet tea, that’ll be the end of that.
Tho maybe we can meet them halfway by assuring they can keep their delicious fried foods, they just can’t use flour and can only fry in animal fats.
I dont know what this sweet tea is? Are you referring to what we know as “iced tea”? It comes in a powder and it contains sugar…you just mix with cold water?
Im talking about hot earl grey tea with cream…very english style.
Sweet tea is prepared a pitcher at a time, and averages about 1 cup of sugar per 8 cups of water. Also known as Diabetes-in-a-cup.
Nope! Without breading it’s not delicious fried food. We can’t lie to them.
Sweet tea is Lipton tea bags made into tea and half a pitcher of sugar dumped in while it’s still warm so that it’s almost like simple syrup and it is delicious. I grew up on it. Now I make Lipton tea and put some splenda in it and it’s just as good. But I also love warm tea with cream and sweetener too!
Nearly 17 pounds in 7 weeks. So that’s 2.42 pounds per week or 125.8 pounds over an entire year at the rate you are going. I doubt you could gain weight that fast if you tried, so yeah, that’s a solid rate for loss.
And like @PetaMarie says, you should count your NSVs. Those alone are worth the price of admission. In your quest to reach your destination, take note of the great things that are happening during your journey.
The problem is that we say “weight” when we really mean “fat.” If you think about it, you don’t want to lose weight by losing muscle mass or bone density, you want to lose it by losing fat. If you simultaneously gain muscle mass and bone density while losing that fat, I say that’s a good thing, no matter what reading you get from your scale. You will be healthier and stronger, and I see no problem with that. Take that scale and give it to someone you don’t like, and concentrate on what your clothing size is doing!
P.S.—My weight has now been stable for about 12 months, but I can now wear trousers that were too small to put on 12 months ago. Am I complaining? (Well, yes, I am, actually, but that’s because I love to complain, lol!)
