Holidays

Would love your advice on Keto friendly holidays. Besides the low carb cruise which I am considering it would be great to hear from everyone where/what they have found to be the best Keto friendly holidays? I’m in Australia but am happy for recommendations anywhere in the world and locally. We typically rent a house and cook for ourselves but I am planning my 50th for next year and am keen to get away… but always find the food situation challenging. Any insights, recommendations, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure exactly what your question is. I’ve been eating this way for over a decade and taken multiple cruises and celebrated many holidays. I’ve never found any problem in eating very low carb in all those situations.

To ‘celebrate,’ I usually have something I don’t normally eat–e.g., lobster or prime rib. Recently, I roasted a whole duck. On my last cruise, I was already eating zero carb (for the past year) and while I’ve never had problems eating at the buffet, my family went to a variety of ‘specialty’ restaurants on the ship (cost extra!), and every one of them accommodated my way of eating with delicious choices that were also zero carb.

Honestly, I have never had an issue eating out. There is always something you can do even if it means scraping toppings off pizza or eating the insides of sandwiches or burgers. Most restaurants that are more versatile with less formulaic menus will usually accommodate a few changes to a dish on the menu. You get to know what is likely to contain sneaky carbs - some sauces, etc. Avoid those and if in doubt just go for the basics like steak and salad.
