I’ve been fat adapted for a few months now and I’ve lost roughly 35lbs. Now I find a strange thing to happen that I haven’t seen anyone anywhere mention and I noticed it after a night of drinking. It was the next day or 2 days after a party where I drank like 10+ beers. I knew it would kick me out of fat burning but I deserved a break so I didn’t mind. Anyway normally my ketone levels are anywhere from 0.5-2.5. They fluctuate constantly. However when I measured the day after drinking my levels were at around 4, the highest they’ve ever been. Now, I can only assume that my body stopped burning ket and switched to burning all the sugar from the beers. Therefore the unburnt ketones built up in my system giving the higher reading. Now that is something I’ve never heard anyone mention ever. Common belief is that if you’re kicked out then your levels should go down to zero. This is the second time this has happened. The other was a day after eating maybe too much protein. My level was 3.5. That’s unusually high for me. Now was that true or did the excess protein turn to sugar and have the same effect as the beer?.. I wonder…
