High quality probiotic

Hello,

I have been keto 6 months and now feel i need to bring in probiotic to my daily regime. I do eat fermented food but since taking antibiotics for very long time before keto, i feel i need to get started on a good probiotic.

Can anyone please recommend high quality probiotic supplement. I did a search and dont see much discussion on the forum regarding a good healthy probitotic so this maybe a good thread for people for folks who are interested in buying a high quality probiotic.

I take this one from garden of life. It’s one of the few I found that did not have maltodextrin. Not sure what gender you are but this one is women specific. they have a variety of others. I’m happy with it.

I don’t think you can get a probiotic superior to well fermented vegetables- sauer Kraut pickles etc

I’m currently trying this one as recommended by Dr. Carolyn Dean as part of her Yeast Reset Protocol. You can get a bottle of 90 for $69, which isn’t bad when you only need 1-2 per day. There is definitely a difference in type of probiotic and soil based organisms aren’t in most of the products on the shelf, except some in Garden of Life Primal Defense. You’ll find lactobacillus in fermented foods and you might be right on that you can’t beat fermented foods for that type, but SBOs won’t be covered and some people just don’t respond to what’s in most.

So far, I’ve noticed a couple days of feeling noticeably better, even with some horrible sleep. I’m doing this because I have a couple symptoms that fit Dr. Dean’s questionnaire - I predictably feel bad on rainy and overcast days, I’m extremely sensitive to alcohol and I have rash that won’t go away and I often have sleep issues. I’ve eaten keto for over 2 years now and these issues still haven’t gotten better.
Anyway, hope that helps. I can follow up when I’ve been taking it longer and know if it’s made a difference.

I also found this interview helpful and read his book. He does have a fairly tempered approach to the whole microbiome thing - doesn’t oversell probiotics, points out that not every kind works for every person and although he’s selling his own products, you can certainly make your own choices
