Has anyone else had high, fast heart rate or tachycardia when adapting to the Keto diet?
High or fast heart rate while adapting to keto
I am not sure exactly how to. I’m on a beta blocker for migraines than could marginally raise potassium AND just last week could not get my usual thyroid medication and the Dr. put me on leveothyroxine, but the high heart rate started the week before, right after eating meals and now is pretty much all the time. I have tried increasing magnesium and sodium - didn’t help. Kind of stumped. Think I will have to check in with my Dr.
In a similar situation months ago with palpitations and on a beta blocker I added some selenium pills to my magnesium supplement and the fast, hard beats went away quite suddenly. Can’t say that was the remedy but it can’t hurt. I’m still taking them and the problem went away. The only time some rapid beats come back is when I overdo the carbs.
Thank you so much for your reply! I had read something like that about potassium and now what happened with you seems to support the selenium. I’m going to try that today with my other minerals. I happen to have a good form of selenium on hand. Thank you! I will let you know how it works out.
Many become more sensitive to caffeine on keto, If I drink more than a single batch of espresso I can feel the increase in my heart rate.
I had this, so bad I went to a doctor.
Magnesium glycinate fixed it, instantly.
