Background: I’m one of the rare and blessed formally obese people who lost weight and kept it off for a long time even in a low fat world. I went from a size 46-34 waist and lost a total of 100lbs, but kept off 90.
However, it all started to come back 2-3 years ago with kids.
I discovered LCHF after a “paleo” journey had helped but not all the way.
Now, the weights off, my pants fit again and inflammation in my body is lower than it’s been in years and years!!! (BTW, I’m doing more pulls, push-ups and crunches then I ever have in my life: with fasted workouts, I feel like a crazy warrior back to my roots!)
Issue: I went to a nutritionist to help with sleep issues. I had a blood panel last week and saw doctor this morning - I’m trying to make sense of it all. I Had very low sodium even though I have to keep my intake up to about 5000mg a day to keep hydrated (I also drink too much coffee and am a gym rat) but she specifically said my liver was good and so were my kidneys.
But, doctor freaked out about my cholesterol and Testosterone levels, so I’m going back tomorrow to get tested for testicular cancer and heart disease, which should be fun ; )
HOWEVER…(dramatic music…) I’m fighting back this time though,
You see: I had knee surgery two years ago and it was a disaster. I was talked into a repair of a ligament rather than a removal as should have been suggested. THAT option was never even presented. It created 3 months of hell in my life and nothing to show for it.
The MCL knot on the side of my knee taught me a HUGE lesson: educate, educate, educate…and be aggressive when anyone trying to put anything in your body or a loved ones. Take time to research the drug and all the side effects on your own, it’s all out there if we take the time to look.
I’m starting to get frustrated: 23 years ago, MY friend and grandma died after 15 years of misery because of 8 different meds she had because of side effects and her original medication created.
My Father in law and my friend both spent there final year mostly comatose because the cancer doctor didn’t have enough integrity or sense to say, “it’s time to enjoy your family while you can”
And of course, NOT ONE TIME, was nutrition, or any other alternative options considered or brought up. Only options costing between 5k-100k dollars or medications at $50 a pill.
Solution: I’m 37, have two young children and an amazing wife. So when I show up to the Hospital tomorrow Morning, I’ll have my hands wrapped tight and gloves on. I don’t care if your the surgeon general, there will be NO meds (AKA poison) in my body until I have time to research, discuss with my wife and other doctor friends and since I’m a Christian, I’ll also Pray and meditate on the problem instead of just complying: “Pay and medicate.”
I will wait until I feel there are no other options but a poison to kill the problem (Which may be valid, but I won’t jump into it, like they want.)
I’ve been around this long, no life threatening problems, I can probably wait a few weeks or more before I start doing anything crazy.
Conclusion: It’s the costumer who is right, correct? This illusion that the Doctor knows ALL still pressures us to put some of the worst things inside of our body.
So let’s rise up!
DONT REFUSE all the technological breakthrough of modern medicine or advice, but instead to demand better customer service!
Demand more information and demand doctors who spend time researching nutrition and side effects of medicine as if their patients lives depended on them.
All I ask is that Doctors and the medical committee do what they first swore to with the famous Hippocratic Oath - FIRST DO NO HARM.
