Hello, I’ve been keto semi solid since the first of the year. I’ve done several 5 day water fasts over the past few years. I just had my yearly blood work and my lipid panel was fantastic. My A1C is 5.4. My blood work fasting glucose has been high 90s the past few years. I’ve been fasting between 16-20 hrs everyday for almost 2 months. Checking at home, My fasting glucose is never below 90, often as high as 115. But I never get spikes if I increase my carbs or have a cheat day. I’m always under 120 1 hour post meals. I increased my carbs to around 100 per day for a week with some fruits and berries, no changes in my readings. Why am I never below 90? Am I at risk for T2D? I’ve never been one to chase ketones but my index is never optimal. Is my body not responding well to fasting? Thanks and sorry if I posted this in the wrong area.

Hi Thad!
How are you doing now? I am curious since I am in a similar situation. 8 months keto, A1c of 5.1. My fasting glucose numbers range from 92-110. Rarely am I below 90. I think I have insulin resistance. I am concerned since I started keto in an attempt to avoid Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Dale Bredesen’s book “The End of Alzheimer’s” suggests aiming for a fasting glucose between 75-90. So, how are you doing now?
