High blood sugar while fasting

(Andrea Shields ) #21

:joy::hugs: I love your attitude - I get far too OCD with my glucose/ketone meter - it can be as bad as those dammed scales. It’s even led me to throw my hands in the air (or fridge) & stuff my face silly on a couple of occassions. I think I’ll get someone to hide my meter from me except for 2x measurements a day & the rest of the time kCko :blush:

That made me chuckle :joy::heart:

You can order a fasting insulin test privately if the doctor doesn’t run one for you

Oh thank you for that link Duncan :grinning:

Jenny how did your tests come out. I have good info about this from Fungs LD IDM Program.(long distance intensive dietary management)

Hi Canuck
The doctor said all normal but I still have high blood sugar . Waking Approx 9.2 and ketones around 1.9 waking . For years doing Keto in and off my bloods were always around 4.6 but after a few months break and back on Keto 4 weeks now, it been like this for 4 weeks. Also this time my weight Lois is quite slow :disappointed:. It has taken me a month to loose 3kg. This used to come off in a week. I have been doing 16/8 nearly everyday and one 24hr fast water only once a week. Only a slight drop in BG during fasting :disappointed:, 7.8 after 24 hours

I think the doctor done two types of A1C tests. This tests the last 3 months right? I’m wondering how they come to it conclusion ? Divide the average over 3 months maybe. If so it would prob look normal because it BG was only high 10 days out of those 3 months, the 10 days I was back on Keto, so 10 days before the test

I have been watching some of Dr Fungs videos but he says blood sugar should come down when you don’t eat, mine is not really, well barely . :frowning:

Hi Jenny,
Sometimes labs make errors.
The 10 days you fell off the wagon will impact your A1C. That’s increases how much glucose remains in your blood.
I have switched my regime up to doing more EF of 3 days to drop as on 3 month plateau.it also drops my BG.
I wouldn’t test again for another 6 months.
What did your Dr say about your TSH, it’s awfully low. Did you get free T3 and free T 4 done.?

A1c of 5.0 is great. You dont have diabetes.
There is zero reason to test your sugars now !

Here’s the good news.
Your liver will make the glucose you need … that’s it’s job. I wouldn’t question it’s work and what level of glucose it decides to pump out.

There are many things, I am sure you know, that can improve your health in the next 3 months. Make a list. I bet your list is bang on. In the next 3 months, I can see how it is possible for you to improve your health by glucose testing.

Your job is to improve the living conditions of the liver by eating well, exercising, relaxing, and avoiding the glucometer.

VLC, I’m off T2D meds and have been doing the One Meal A Day plus a few 48 hour fast for almost 2 months. Since I have gotten into ketosis my blood sugar seems to be running higher than I would like. Typical morning readings are 165-170. I’m usually taking in less than 25 carb grams per day. Is this normal?Would appreciate any guidance.

No, that’s not normal. Mine are around 100 in the morning. I would give it time. What you are doing should help reduce these, but 2 months is not a long time to reverse diabetes.

Hi David,
This happened to me for nearly a year and I was concerned to but your body will produce glucose where needed , it pulls it out naturally where needed. I’m nit sure and you should keep an eye on it and consult your doctor . I was using a glucomator. My reading were quite high for about 10 months and I was fasting 2/3 days a week water only . Now it’s slightly calmed down to a reasonably normal level even when fasting of about 4.8 . Wish I could help more and if you learn more I’d love to hear from you guys and good luck :hugs:

THANKS big…I’m continuing the course…will have an A1c next month…really hoping all that glucose floating around doesn’t affect that reading…but it may…Hopefully, I’ll get an answer from someone that has an answer.
