Hi, new in here, thank i found this forum. High ketones reading

Hi, i am new here to this forum. I am having a preoccupation about my self. i am having my ketones above 5 all the time. I don’t know if that is any good so high reading. I want to hear any suggestion in how i could lower my ketones a little bit inside the 0.5 to 3 . I have been doing it 20/4 and one meal a day intermittently. Should i reduce my fat intake or go up in the protein?. I don’t eat any complex carbohydrates at all, and i don’t want to do it. I do exercise regularly but i having a bad time there too.

What are your glucose readings? A reading of 5 is not uncommon when starting out. You probably aren’t able to use all the ketones properly, so they are still in the blood stream.

My glucosa has been in the range of 95 to 110. With food or without. Also my high ketones reading are in a fasting states in the morning and also after 2 hour of eating

What is your energy level?

Do you feel energetic or exausted?

How long have you been eating keto? Are the ketone reading using a blood meter or the pee sticks?

what @EZB said. Even later when you are fat adapted this ratio would be fine. It can be bad if both reading are high.

When i at home feel fine. Just one day with yawns but normally feel good. Of course not the same when i go for a run my heart rate go like crazy high like if i were a person that never run before. I just start doing crossfit like 2 classes only and i feel tired but well overall. My only concern is when i go for a run or bike ride donnt feel that strength.
I am running and biker for a long time. Thanks for asking

Hi, those ketones are from blood test. I never use the urine ones. I also have one of those breathalyzer for alcohol but i know that doesn’t work properly. But those levels are from blood.

I am doing the zero complex carbohydrate and high fat (ketogenic) more than a month, also doing the 20/4 if and lately the omad (the one meal a day) but lately don’t have the mud for the omad. So if i have ketones high and blood sugar high like 100 is ok?

ketones at 5 and glucose at 100 sounds ok to me

Thanks for your time to respond. Now i feel better because i read everywhere that people are having like 1 or 2 ketones level and also books said that the best levels are between. 5 and 3.i was concerned that i were very high. .

Don’t worry about your ketone level. As long as you are making any ketones at all, it means your insulin level is down where you want it to be. The level will fluctuate throughout the day, and it is also likely to go down as your body gets better at using the ketones it produces. If you are feeling clear-headed and energetic, all is well. If you are not, give yourself another month to become fat-adapted.
