Hi, New here and always second guessing

(Darren Orr) #1

About me - 36 yo male, 178cm tall, 83 kg moderately active. Previously done low carb for nearly 2 years but gave up when I got pneumonia and just needed(craved) the instant energy that carbs provide. As soon as i went back to carbs i gained 10kg in about 2 -3 weeks.
Now I know I’m not “overweight” and Im not eating this way for weightloss, I just much prefer the way I feel and perform.
I’m at the gym 3 times a week to get fitter, stronger and more stable (core, back and neck).
I have been back on the wagon for the last month, lost 1.8kg but thats also while building muscle.
My problem is Im often full of doubt and second guessing everything I do.
Im usually around 20g carbs, occasionally creeping to 30.
I dont feel like I’m so much doing anything wrong, but more questioning every choice.
Do I need this protein shake after workout?
Have I had enough fat/protein for the day?
Should I have eaten something this morning?

That sorta thing.

Is it just me? Or do others have this too?

How many grams of protein do you eat on a daily basis?

I often wonder if I’m doing it just right. But i have chosen to avoid weighing my food or getting hypervigilant about the details. So it’s the price I pay. KCKO!

i was questioning everything and it was causing me unnecessary stress so i decided to KCKO.
as long as my carbs are where they’re supposed to be and i don’t feel whonky i figure i’m doing it “right”

the question to all of the above is “am i genuinely hungry?” and there’s your answer

i think for for anyone that’s been involved in fitness it’s a challenge to let go of “the rules”…
like the “anabolic window”, eating enough to spare muscle, eating enough to build muscle, eating within 30 minutes of waking, etc

for me just shifting the focus from whether i was doing it “right” to focusing on how i feel and my carbs helped a lot…since that shift my macros are where they should be with very little effort
you got this
