Hi! Kinda Keto Newbie

Hi! I started keto 5 weeks ago. I was doing THM prior to that and I had been pretty successful. I reached a point where I wasn’t losing on THM for a couple of months so I decided to switch it up. THM and Keto are pretty similar. However, I was tired of the 50 ingredient recipes and all of the products they pushed in their cookbooks. I find Keto much simpler for my busy life. I’ve lost 6lbs which seems slow to me. I did Atkins about 10 years ago and it flew off of me. But now I’m almost 47 and a single mom and I have a demanding job that causes some stress. I’m going to stick with it as my hip pain (lots of falls playing roller derby…what was I thinking at 40 years old??) is so much better. Plus I sleep a lot better too. Between THM and Keto I’ve lost about 30 lbs and have 33 to go. I’ve been lurking here for a few days and finally decided I need to join this group!

Do you like jalapeños? :flushed:. :sunglasses:

See if an admin can add a keto singles section.

Welcome. Simple is good. I think complex recipes can help with the transition since you can make “versions” of carby food. I found once I was in the grove, I’m happier just having a simple steak and eggs than anything.

DITTO

I find it easier to just cook a steak on the grill and have some fresh veggies at the end of the day. I bring left overs to work and have started trying to fast from 8 pm the night before until about 10 am the next day. I love to cook but anything over 10 ingredients and I lose interest! LOL! I wish this weight would move faster but maybe it’s better if I don’t lose super fast. Patience is a virtue (lacking patience unfortunately).

Thanks for the welcome, all!

Edited to say: Not married…but my boyfriend does live with us. LOL! Just use to saying single mom since I’m divorced and have a child and not re-married.

Welcome, Heather. :slightly_smiling_face: The simplicity of keto and the non-weight-loss benefits like less joint pain, better sleep, etc., make it very compelling for most of us. Good for you - wish I’d started long ago.

How is it cooked? The color looks about like what I currently eat. Thankfully my daughter is not picky at all (unlike most 8 year olds) so she will eat whatever is cooked. I think she would like this too!

Thank you!

Just click on the Anova link that I put in that post. It’s awsome. It just adds another tool in your Keto arsenal. Also check out the “what did you Keto” thread in the food category of the forums. It will give you a ton of ideas that are really simple and easy to make.
