Hi,I need more help

Today is 17 days since I started ketogenic diet. I started ketogenic for support my wife. She is enjoying ketogenic. She started because diabetes. I’m pretty much healthy.
Since I started I have problems with hungry, thirsty, no energy, run, constipation, and stomach upset. Now, I’m having not want any fat. I’m very hungry but I cannot eat fat. Just look at fatty food, my mouth get oily automatic. I can eat nut, salad other things but not fat. I need suggestions, how can I over come. Energy level is very bad also. Last night, I couldn’t even left 20lb. I work at freight at night. 20lb is not acceptable.
I only eat what my wife give me and she suggested to eat.
I need a lot of suggestion.

Keto is an n=1 for everyone. What works for your wife might not work for you. You need to know what amount to eat (the calorie count for your wife definitely won’t equal what you should eat (a man who works a labor intensive job will require more calories). Macadamia nuts are a great source of fats. Salad dressing on salads…doctor up a salad with meat of some sort, bacon, boiled egg, etc. Make sure your electrolytes are up as well. Track your foods to start and tweak your macros as needed. I started just tracking and made adjustments as I felt I needed/researched things.

And your wife is a great resource, having someone experienced with keto in your household is fantastic. But you have to learn too so you know how to tweak things to fit YOU. Good luck.

Be sure to drink a lot of water and get enough salt. My muscles go weak if i don’t… A break from fat could be broccoli, pickles or deviled eggs. One of my favorites is stuffing jalapeños with cream cheese. They don’t seem fatty to me.

Agree that the amounts good for her might be incorrect for you.

Eat fatter cuts of meat, marbled is best if looking at globs of fat on meat turns you off. Make sure our hamburger meat has a high fat percentage.

Try blending in melted coconut oil into your coffee in the mornings. Start with a small amount, teaspoon, and work your way upwards to a tablespoon or more.

Low energy/strength can come from electrolytes imbalance, not just sodium but potassium and magnesium as well.

Maybe start by increasing your protein and reducing your carbohydrate. Then over time work in increasing fat. I does take a while for your body to adjust to any new diet, so maybe start a little slower.

Rather than a sole food source, try mixing in your fats, eg. cooking steak with generous amounts of butter, sauté food in butter and/or cream, add cheese to your salads, veggies, burgers, etc. There’s also lots of great fat bomb recipes on the web, particularly Pintrest, that don’t look or taste like fat. I always tell people about my favourite strawberry cheesecake. I make these in a chocolate mould so they’re bite sized. I always have some in the freezer that I take out when I feel like a hit of this yummy goodness.

Thank you very much for suggestions.
I had dinner 10:30pm last night. Pork Laulau. Pretty big bawl full. I was still hungry, so I ate half of lettuce. I was still hungry but I had to go to work. I started to work 11:30pm, as soon as I move my stomach upset. My wife think that signal of food I ate start hitting to my brain. It full. I don’t feel full, but I kind of agree with her. Round 12:30am, my stomach is fine but I get so hungry. I just want sit. I start to eat nuts. Until my first break. My first break is 2:30am. At that time I’m so hungry. I art ketogenic power bar, string cheeses, drink protein drink and keep eating nuts. I keep eating nuts lunch time. I’m so hungry for lunch but I couldn’t eat fatty food. I ate little bit fatty food and salad.
After I got home, I drink BP coffee with raw egg in. I’m going eat two duck eggs very soon, I cause I get hungry soon. I use to eat bacon with but now I cannot even look at bacon. Before I go to bed, I will eat three duck eggs.
I take all supplement, other wide my wife get mad at me.
Before I started this diet, my favorite food was salmon. Now, I cannot even look at that. Too greasy for me.
It seem like I eat fat food once, my mouth recognize fat, I cannot eat anymore. I don’t know what I can do anymore.

half a head of lettuce? while not too many carbs I suppose, I do hope you made a salad, adding extra fats. I wouldn’t find lettuce very filling by itself at all.

I was meet lover before I started ketogenic. Butter lover also. When I was eating bread butter drip. Bread was to eat butter. Now, I cannot even think about butter. I still use butter for cooking eggs. But I don’t know how long.

Are you and your wife testing for ketones? I bought a cheap alcohol breathalyser, it gives a positive reading if you’ve got acetone in your breath from being in ketosis. That will tell you if your diet’s on track and you’re burning fat for fuel. When fat adapted, people tend to crave fat.

Another good thing about testing is you can see what kicks you out of ketosis. My partner was really struggling with eating very low carb, but he’s pretty insulin sensitive and can stay in ketosis even if he has a few oat crackers with his cheese or a couple of homemade pancakes (unsweetened) with his bacon and eggs. Little things like that can make it a lot easier to stick with keto long term.

So I’ve been eating LCHF and keto for almost two years now. When I started I had the same problem after about 3 weeks - I went completely off fatty things. All I did was stop using cream for a few days. This helped tremendously. I think that our bodies and our minds are not used to the richness of the fatty foods so your body needs to be retrained that this is a healthy way to eat. I have boundless energy and I think that once you get through the initial body changes and your body switches to burning fat instead of glucose, you will also benefit from huge energy resources. My boyfriend finds it very easy to stick to with increased protein which stops him getting hungry. Remember that carbs make you hungry as well so if you are eating hidden carbs this could result in the hunger setting in. Good luck and I hope you get through this cos it really is beneficial in so many ways.

Starting keto you have to eat fat until you’re full. A lot of it. If you’re hungry or have cravings eat fat. I also work shift work and being awake in the middle of the night can signal you’re hungry even if you’re not. Make fat bombs and eat those. It took me over 4 months to become fully fat adapted. If your stomach is upset it’s likely keto flu, try Vega sustain electrolytes. They work for my nausea!!! Good luck!

In your first post you did not describe your physical condition. Is it possible you are in good health? Perhaps you are insulin sensitive and have no need to eat ketogenically.

Can you provide a little more information about yourself?
