Help, not feeling well

(Niall) #41

I have thought of something that I wonder if is the cause.

I have been taking Vitamin D supplements since December as I wasn’t getting much daylight (two months before I started Keto and take one tablet per day).

I have continued taking these since Keto but wonder if I may be getting too much Vitamin D and I believe Calcium can come from that too.

Has anybody had issues with this and could this be a reason?

Question. Does keto flu involve a low grade fever? is this the reason for the sweating? I was sick with a virus for 8-9 days and got over it about 5 days ago. Today I’m feeling like my body temp is fluctuating, I’m sweating and feeling low grade feverish, some body aches (nothing like when I had the virus). I had some light salt and lemon wedge in my water. Slept for 4 hours in the afternoon to evening. Just wondering if the sweating is due to body temp fluctuations ie low grade fever when experiencing keto flu. I haven’t had it much and have been keto for almost 2 months but when I was sick I was not watching my macros much (except for the carbs).

4 liters of water.

I am not sure about that.

When I consume such amount I get depleted from minerals and vitamins. I could make it up as supplements but who knows what exactly I am losing.

I have no way of proofing that but I know that much of water does not do me any good unless ofcourse losing fluids for some reason.

I drink when my body asks me to.

4 liters in 16 hours means a glass of water every hour.

I only speak about my self and maybe others are different.

It really depends on whether you’re trying to lose weight or not. If you’re not trying to lose weight, then you should just drink when you’re thirsty. If you are, then you should have goals for water each day that work for you (that are appropriate for your weight and lifestyle).

Having enough Sodium in your diet will ensure that you’re not losing all of your nutrients in your urine.

Thanks Steve

I lost 8 kilos since start of the keto, butI am not trying to loose more weight . I think my body weight and my food intake (calaories in/out) found a balance of 82kg which maybe alittle high for 167cm but not too far.

It is good piece of information to know that the sodium prevent the loss of other minerals.

Most of my life I was deprevating my self from sodium because it makes my tinnitus worse. So that may explain feeling fainted when overdosing water.

But since I started the keto, I had no choice but to terminate my sodium deprevating and noticed my tinnitus reduced in intensity and significantly improved (still there in the back ground but bearable).

My best regards for your comments

I am still really struggling.

It has been a week now of having bad diarrhea, very upset stomach etc so I have ruled out a normal bug.

I went to the doctors on Friday and had a blood test so hope to have the results in the next few days.

I really don’t know what the problem is and I am very close to giving up. I just don’t know what to do.

I have been drinking a pint of boiling water with 2 OXO Cubes in for the last couple of weeks now hoping that this extra Sodium will help. But I wonder if this could actually be causing the diarrhea?

I have also stopped taking my Vitamin D and Magnesium & Potassium Supplements a week ago thinking these could be a cause but has changes nothing.

Too much salt can definitely cause loose stool.

My only other thought is it could be a parasite die off? I know Candida can wreak havoc as it dies, and so could Lyme spirochetes and related tick parasites if you’ve been exposed to those. This would be about when it would happen.

If I were you, I’d go back to very basics, probably fast for a bit to get my digestive tract cleared out then start again with meat and veg and fat, nothing extra. Really hoping you feel better.

(Niall) #48

Thanks. I did think about a parasite or something like that but it definitely just seems to be diet related.

One thing I realised I haven’t mentioned yet that I have been taking is MCT Oil (usually 2 tablespoons per day).

Does anybody have any experience of this stuff? I have heard that is a possible cause of diarrhoea?

(Liz ) #49

Oh yeah, MCT is famous for that! I reiterate my advice to just go back to real food for a bit.

#50

Yup, ease off the MCT and see what happens. :slightly_smiling_face:

(Niall) #51

Gonna stop the MCT for a few days see how it goes. Also stopped taking the Beef Broth drink.

I was feeling ok this morning then I ate a handful of almonds a couple of hours ago and within 30 minutes my stomach pain was bad again and I had diarrhea…

(Niall) #52

Has anyone found Almonds causing diarrhea?

Unfortunately I think I am going to have to stop Keto. It has been 8 days of really bad diarrhea now and I am in real pain because of that. I simply do not know what it is causing it but if I continue with diarrhea for much longer I could do myself damage…

(Chris W) #53

they are pretty high in magnesium if you are supplementing as well that could be the issue.

(Betsy) #54

I would try stopping the almonds before giving it up totally. And if you drink coffee, that’s another one to give up before stopping.

Do you eat cheese? Cheese might help with the diarrhea.

(Niall) #55

I will try that then thanks.

Without being too graphic my backside is in so much pain that I am terrified to eat anything at the moment…

I have had my blood tests back and apparently there are no issues other than my “Serum Lipids”. Apparently this is linked to high cholesterol and the nurse wants to speak to me about it.

(Betsy) #56

Oxalates can cause burn.

I was thinking maybe the beef and water diet for a few days might be easier than fasting but probably not cause any problems.

(Betsy) #57

How are you doing?

(Niall) #58

Doing a bit better thanks. I fasted for 24 hours and took some Imodium tablets. I didn’t go to the toilet for a day (which was a relief) and since then there has hardly been any diarrhea.

It is frustrating that I still don’t know exactly what has caused it. I eliminated quite a few things to try and help so still not sure what it is.

(Daniel Decker) #59

MCT was probably the issue. 2 table spoons is way too much!! At least at first, you have to work up to it. That will give you the runs for sure.

Have a look at this link, read the whole thing. It should really help. It should like hypoglycaemia could be playing a role here. Im going through something very similar.
