Help Me With My Trader Joe's List!

(Sophie) #1

I haven’t had access to a Trader Joe’s in over 7yrs, but now I have cause to travel to one so I definitely am looking forward to shopping there when I make my day trip.

All I can remember about them is the 2-Buck Chuck! Ashamed to admit that but it’s true and I bet it’s not $2 anymore lol!

So what can I expect to find these days?

Alas, Two Buck Chuck is no more…

When I got to trader joes there are a few items that I get.

Liquid stevia
Heavy Cream
Cheese - Unexpected Cheddar is really good, but we will also get an assortment there
Nuts - Pecans and walnuts
Frozen Frenched Green Beans (These are thinner green beans that are really tender)
Raw Chicken Sausages - they have several flavors and all of them are delicious

I love Trader Joe’s. My son works there. I think they have the cheapest dairy and spices. I don’t much care for their beef. Here are some ideas:

Any Cheese
Marscapone
Creme Friache
Pancetta
Raw Pecans (I cinnamon roast them)
HWC
Regular Butter
Kerry Gold
Almond Flour
Psyllium Husks
Coconut Aminos
Spices
Coconut Oil
Olive Oil

Have fun!

Not jealous…MUCH! I miss Trader Joes.

Coconut Cream
Salted Macademias
Brazil Nuts
They have good 85% dark chocolate (forget the brand, starts with V- black/red wrapper)
Smoked Salmon
Lots of interesting cheeses

Our normal TJs list:
cured meats: proscuitto, salame
lunch meats: seasoned roast beef (TJs brand is really good)
pre-cooked meats: pork belly & carnitas, sometimes grilled chicken
canned tuna

cream/butter
olive oil
coconut milk

hard cheese incl parm

sunflower seeds
pumpkin seeds

frozen veg incl haricots verts, spinach

TJ’s has decent supplements.
Riced cauliflower, both fresh & frozen. I think the frozen is fantastic to have in your freezer, makes dinner a snap.
Frozen spinach
Love their roasted salted pecans.
Fresh berries
Camembert = sex in a cheese wrapper!

(Athena) #9

I stopped buying the salted pecans when I noticed they had more carbs in them than the raw ones. Their ingredients contain soy.

(Liz ) #10

Their salted pecans are the best I’ve had yet.
Almond meal
Just tried their precooked sirloin roast & it was pretty good! Nothing weird added.
All beef hot dogs
Whole cut up chicken by Empire

Did NOT like:
Tj’s Brie
Their Italian sausage is 6 carbs per link! :flushed:

(Jo O) #11

Bacon Ends & Pieces (has some sugar) but I won’t pay Wholefoods prices for smoked bacon.
Eggs
Canned salmon
Frozen chicken wings
Everything but the Bagel (in the spice section)
Fresh veggies: broccoli, arugula, Brussels sprouts
Avocados
Lemons, limes
Dr Bonners peppermint soap
Tea
Coffee
Coconut cream/ coconut milk
Olive oil
Olives

Have fun!!!

The last time I hit TJ’s, they had heavy whipping cream in boxes (one a shelf above one of the frozen sections).

I love their frozen shrimp. It’s inexpensive and they are huge!

Although they advertise a cauliflower pizza crust, it has flour in it.

#13

I like the California Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil! It’s only $6.00 and got really good reviews on Amazon for being a “pure” extra virgin olive oil.

(Regina M.) #14

Buffalo ghee (plain or with Indian spices)
Bratwurst (the imported German one- they have others with more carbs)
Collier’s Welsh Cheddar(yummmm)
Hemp seeds (cheapest price around)
Everything Bagel Seasoning
Montezuma’s Absolute Black 100% Chocolate with Cacoa Nibs (much better texture than baking chocolate)
Green Dragon Sauce (will change your life)

These things may be discontinued because I haven’t seen them the last few times I’ve been in:

Pre-made hollandaise
Buffalo butter

#15

Aldi also do those beans. 99 cents for 12/14 oz bag

I keep the boxed cream in my hurricane supply closet. I didn’t run out during Harvey. It’s not as good as fresh, but it’s a life saver when you can’t get to the store for several days or weeks.

#17

Their Dijon mustard is phenomenal and it’s like $2 for a big jar. Made in France and everything. Also, we really like their cheeses and seasonings (everything bagel seasoning). And my number one Trader Joe’s item…their roasted pumpkin seeds. Have fun!!!

#18

Macadamia Nuts, nuff said

(Ernest) #19

Australian rib eye steaks
Mascarpone cheese
Coconut cream. They have two kinds, watch the ingredients.
Harissa Salsa

Hey, keto friends! I’m looking for an update on this thread, as I’m about to do a once-a-decade (practically) Trader Joe’s run and I figured there might be some new items of interest that regular shoppers know of. The Fearless Flyer posted on their website is basically a list of what NOT to eat.

Thanks for your help!
