Hi everyone . . I’m new to keto plus have commitment issues help!
Help me stick to keto
Maybe some more information? What do you have problem with exactly? Temptation? Old habits? Missing something even without temptation?
Maybe your keto style isn’t ideal for you. Or it is, for the future you but some relaxed approach would work better now…
Do you try to eat little to lose fat? Keto is easier if you focus on ketosis and don’t try to restrict your calories.
Maybe you (even consciously) keep yourself from certain nice keto items? Too little fat, maybe? Or too much if you aren’t used to your current level. So many potential problem…
Well a little of most of the points you mentioned.
My temptations r noodles, INJERA(local item from teff which we use daily. . Oh bzw I’m from Ethiopia ) & fruits. Plus I can’t keep my motivation for long. Most keto items r either too expensive or unavailable here. So I have to make ends meet wiz limited options which makes it boring. This gets worse when it’s fasting season & I hav to go vegan.
I think it will help if I have a partner who can keep me going . . Cuz my friends think it’s crazy to try this . . & I really want to reach my ideal weight range . . Just 17 pounds to go
That sounds problematic…
Limited options, I have that but I gradually reached this and love my food. And I am creative enough to get my variety.
What options do you have, what food items?
I can’t say much about temptations as I rarely have them, my health consciousness helps. I don’t often want to eat food that is bad for me. And carby food is bad for me - okay in small amounts though. I can understand love towards fruits but you can eat them on keto, just not much and if you want a decent amount, not any type of them. I ate fruits every day in the beginning. Others choose not to in order to get rid of their sweet tooth. I am fine with my sweet tooth but it’s very weak on very low-carb anyway.
So I keep the fruits, occasionally. Other, even carbier things must be absent though. To me, it’s very important to enjoy my keto food, boring food makes me fall off the wagon. I have a single extremely important, always present, cheaper item, eggs and I use a lot of other items, they are often way more expensive but I don’t use much and they are worth it. I am on a budget but found a way to have my most enjoyable meals on keto. It helps that my body feels the best on very low-carb, of course. I am motivated to stay on track.
You can make an own accountability thread here as many other people do.
hello Bill and welcome
go to youtube and check out their keto recipes.
maybe the variety and choices there will help to motivate you
good luck!
Try to stick to meat and fish, and avoid plant foods, especially starches and grains (leafy green vegetables are fine, as well as most vegetables that grow above ground). As you become adapted to this way of eating, you are likely to find that your appetite will decline and you will need less food.
What options do you have when you have to be vegan? Any coconuts? Tofu?
It’s hard to get a good amount of protein while being vegan.
Can you eat eggs?
Not much . . Coconut, almond & other options r not available so I use avocados & soya chunks I find . . & no can’t eat eggs
This is starting to sound like: “I really want to do keto but I only eat Kraft Dinners.” What are we supposed to say when this person is setting up barriers to pretty much everything suggested? OK, if that’s all you’ve got just eat avocados and soya chunks (whatever that is) and get back to us in a couple of months to let us know how it went, or didn’t.
@amwassil wooow pump the breaks dude . . I didn’t ask you to do s*** for me! . . I joined z forum for support to get to my goal despite my scarce food choices . . Not to be trolled by some insensitive a**hole . . I appologize to the very helpful people in this forum for my response but I just can’t stand haters
@Bili Calm down and edit or retract your last post. Foul language is uncalled for. I made a perfectly good suggestion, given your ‘scarce food choices’. You’re the one asking for help.
@amwassil take your own advice & edit your personality 1st . . Hypocrite . . & stop masking your passive-aggressive trolling as ‘suggestions’ . . Nobody comes here for your condescending attitude . . Just FYI, I’ll never ask someone like you for help
There are vegan ketoers, I would search for their blogs or something. It clearly seemed way too extreme for me even when I did meatless keto. I still don’t know how they do it and I saw lots of vegan keto dish photos… But I always based my diet on animal products, I can’t imagine living on plants.
I still know a bit about how to be a vegan and get nutritions but it’s tough on keto due to the very low carb limit. I would find my own limit (I needed 40g net carbs for vegetarian keto and it’s fine for me) and I would use gluten as my body seems to be fine with it (soy may works for others. I can eat it once a year but I strongly prefer gluten even though I wouldn’t want to overdo it. but it helps when I can’t get enough meat and eggs). But as it’s not a proper, complete protein source, I would eat various things, vegetables, nuts, whatever I could squeeze into my diet… Hemp seeds are allegedly especially good…? But expensive and never went too deep into it as I never really wanted to be a vegan and since I found carnivore, well, the usual vegan complications sound even less tempting. But not everyone can have a choice, of course.
So, use whatever you can, I don’t know your options there, here in Europe we have every kind of things especially now that low-carb diets are more popular… One on a budget still have limitations but there are many options.
