@ctviggen @Jakiscorpion I just wanted to update you two on the advice given for the treatment of heartburn when fasting. I first tried the lemon water suggestion I found researching ctviggen’s suggestion. It seems to be helping quite a bit and I am 30 minutes over my fasting goal :). I used to have lemon in my water all the time but somehow got away from that habit. It has only be a day and I am not ready to proclaim this a cure but it is definitely a step in the right direction. I am working up my nerve to do the apple cider vinegar. I think I will have to wait for real pain to begin again.
Here is the link I found

*just a quick update - I think the lemon water solution may also have an influence on my constant hunger. Perhaps my hunger stems from over active stomach acids, causing by brain to feel like i am starving. At this point, I don’t care whether this is a placebo effect or the real deal. I have dealt with hunger issues even prior to keto so I will definitely keep at it.

Good to hear it’s helping you. And I’ve only just recently read the responses in another thread, you refer to. But I’m thankful that I actually don’t get heartburn much at all anymore, especially since going Keto. But one of the things I’m sure of, is that the lack of eating the more saucy foods I believe played a big role in this for me. But I also used to use, and still do whilst fasting, ACV & this may be helping as well.

My mom has terrible GERD, so I recently showed her these videos from the Serious Keto channel on YouTube:

Like my mom, he had been on medication for GERD for well over a decade.

We didn’t do his recipe. First, we were doing just 1/3 cup of ACV in a 1 liter bottle of sparkling water. Right now, we are doing 1/3 cup each of ACV and lemon juice per liter bottle, but just putting tap water in instead of sparkling water.

Hard to say whether it’s helped her or not. A little over a month in now. We were just talking the other morning, and she thinks she’s doing better on the ACV than on her medications. Not nearly as many coughing spells and throat tickles as she used to have.

YMMV.

1,2 or three pills 20 minutes before you have a meal. It’s what you have in your stomach anyway. Increasing the acid in your stomach helps you digest the food and stops the heartburn! I find that if I’m eating something simple like eggs I might take one or two if I’m eating something less digestible like beef I will take three. I used to take one and it wasn’t quite enough. Everything gives me a bit of heartburn and these do the trick

Thank you for the recommendation. Eating actually cures my heartburn as it only happens on an empty stomach. But, while trying to fast, it is not something I want to do. I have yet to have heartburn due to foods.
