Here in the UK we actually have a traffic light system on foods, red bad, green… well you get the idea! What makes me so mad is that oily fish like smoked mackerel and sardines are classified as BAD because of the high fat!! What?? And all fruit like bananas in the green area together with rice and bread wraps! No wonder the west is so obese and the problem is getting worse than ever before.

That’s awful. Governments shouldn’t get involved in our diets. Everything is political and about who pays whom the most (financial contributions) or who has the most influence, not about truth. So sad. But it’s the same around the world, for the most part. We the people need to learn how to do our own research and stop trusting others to make life changing decisions for us. (Can you tell I feel strongly about this? )
I pity the less knowledgeable and stubborn, more influenceable people… No one keeps ME eating whatever I want and can so they can’t do much against me with their stupid labels. I hope they won’t do it in my country, it would still annoy me, seeing those things. I want to keep my few packaged goods. Well I would just put them into another container, I guess… Or put a label on top of the offending parts (l could make pretty colorful texts like ‘praise the lard’ or something. I surely would have figure something out)… Just like smokers have cigarette box covers so they don’t see the warnings… (Not nearly the same as I do good to my health, not bad, of course.)
Yeah, it’s sad but what we can do?
Fortunately I don’t know people who eat low-fat. Or at least I don’t know about that.
Things are starting to change in the U.K., however. Dr. David Unwin’s infographics about the sugar content of foods have been adopted by the NHS, and Dr. Aseem Malhotra’s address to Parliament a couple of years ago attracted a lot of positive attention to a low-carb diet. And it doesn’t hurt that a prominent opposition M.P. lost a lot of weight on a ketogenic diet.
Yeah you’re correct Paul, thing just take so long to change! The nutritionists of the NHS are still towing “party line” from the government health advisors even when the proof is overwhelming
Sorry to disappoint but after a fairly unpleasant campaign by some idiot journalists in the comic that is the Daily Mail the sugar infographics were “unsanctioned” by NICE.
Problem is, in these countries where the people blindly rely on the Government for everything, they’ve lost the ability to think for themselves. People here are different, being keto’rs, they’ve already swallowed the red pill but the masses haven’t and don’t want to. They actually believe the government has THEIR best interests in mind, and the younger generation has no clue what independent though is.
Yes, in many countries toeing the line is a requirement for being allowed to practise, unfortunately. At least that is starting to change, after the international publicity over Gary Fettke, Tim Noakes, and others.
