Health check tomorrow

(Jeff) #1

I have booked myself to have a health check. I have been doing keto now for over 8 weeks. And not cheated once. I will be having my blood taken tomorrow. Being in ketosis will my blood results be abnormal.
I have no worries regarding my health, but I do have a history of atrial fibrillation. And my parents have both had heart problems, my mum died of heart failure. Hopefully everything will come back positive.

I Your LDL has probably gone up. Don’t fall for the doctor recommending statins if it comes up. Remember whatever happens that you’re the one with the final say on anything your doctor recommends. They work for you, you’re not paying to be a customer. Your blood work will only improve with time. Expect HDL to rise and triglycerides to improve in a few months if it looks like you’ve gotten worse. Higher cholesterol is not a problem. But many doctors aren’t up on that fact and still hung up on pushing a Low fat “balanced” diet with “healthy carbohydrates” making up the bulk of your food. KCKO. :cowboy_hat_face:

If any of your numbers turn out not to be so great, simply tell the doctor that you recently changed your diet and would like some more time to see what the results are. Then give it another four to six months before getting tested again. By that time, your numbers should look really good. That’s the way it generally works, anyway.

Great advice above. If you feel up for it, pls post your results so we can all analyse and advise our thoughts. Do you have any pre-keto baseline numbers to compare with?

Thanks for the replies. I have no baseline to work with.
I just need to see if there is anything to be concerned about.
What I will say is I feel great so I am not going to abandon this lifestyle. If anything I will be continuing this journey for many more months.

Well feeling good is great and if you had no prior issues it’s hard to make any real judgments without a comparison of data. It will be whatever it is… It takes a couple days after the fasting blood work for anyone to get the results… not instant from my experience. The fact you are getting a starting point is good and no matter what the Dr says you need to continue to monitor your blood work and educate yourself. Keep up the good work being proactive! Frankly with your family history a Dr would have already started you on regular blood work… You need to dig into it all.
