Heading over to Las Vegas October what drinks are keto safe

(Rachel) #1

I’m from the UK and I’m heading to Las Vegas in October.

This will be my first time aboard whilst following keto.

Can anyone advise on drinks safe to have in the coffee shops like Starbucks, as I’m sure I read some people on here, have other things in the coffee shops in the USA, also what food apart from the obvious, steak, burgers etc.

I normally have a black iced coffee in the Uk and request no syrup as they normally add this for taste.

Best wishes

You can still get black iced coffee with no syrups at Starbucks if that’s what you’re used to / what you like

Eta - as far as food, where in Vegas will you be staying? On the strip?

Hard liquor like bourbon, scotch, white rum, tequila, gin and vodka are safe straight up, or ice. Keep your mixers low carb, club soda, sugar free tonic or margarita mix if they have it, diet sodas. Long Island Iced tea with Diet Coke.

Sake and dry white or red wines have minimal carbs. Brut Champagne is good.

There are some very low carb beers, I think a 16oz Miller Lite is 3.2 carbs, Michelob Ultra is pretty low too, but being from the U.K. you will likely find them unpalatable :slightly_frowning_face:.

Be aware that drinking especially in excess will greatly stall ketosis temporarily and that most people notice a big drop in alcohol tolerance. Have fun in Lost Wages and remember “What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas” So if you fall off the wagon with all the outrageous food and drinks there don’t talk about it and get back on track when you go home.

I just had Brut champagne a few weeks ago, my first drink in nine weeks, and it was so delicious.

Should of said I’m T total.

I gave up diet fizzy drinks months ago as I use to drink loads of diet cokes.

Hey Rachel, I was just in Vegas last month. I only drink black coffee now but I have been to Vegas lots. If you havent been to Vegas and want some pointers as away.I wouldn’t rely too much on TripAdvisor for Vegas because I have seen some totally incorrect stuff on there.

Well coffee and tea are pretty much keto world wide! Never a problem. Starbucks does have heavy cream but you have to ask the barista for it. No extra charge they just don’t put it on the station where the additives are. :cowboy_hat_face:
