Today the Doctor told me that my BP has crept up since my first visit in June. She has told me to reduce salt, and that if not lower in a month, she would put me on meds. I don’t want to be on meds, so can I just reduce salt, or will I get cramps? I was also told to eat 120g carbs per day lol
HBP help, please
Get a home monitor and take your BP daily for the month.
or take your BP in the pharmacy and write them down.

Thank you, but what can I change to lower it? I thought salt was not proven to cause HBP? I have been under some family stress the past few days, but it doesn’t explain the rise since June which is when I began KETO
I’m a little upset as I feel fantastic, and then she said “They don’t call it the silent killer for nothing!”. Sheesh…
When I caught that virus back in October, they measured a very high BP at the doctor’s, not quite as bad as yours, but something like 168/90. I’m not sure why, but apparently I was anxious, or perhaps it was from the coughing fit in the reception area shortly before they called me into an examining room. The doctor gave me a few minutes, they tried again, and the second reading was fine.
I endorse @VLC.MD’s suggestion to monitor your BP daily. And keep track of your hydration and salt intake. Dr. Phinney talks about how, if we’re not hydrated enough, the heart has to work harder to pump the (thicker) blood through our vessels. Staying hydrated keeps our blood volume at a level that makes it easier for the heart, and thus the pressure is lower. So stay hydrated and KCKO.
If that’s accurate, that’s pretty high.
You shouldnt leave it that high too long.
I was anxious yesterday, and late due to traffic. I will increase my water intake, although I already drink plenty, and will try a week of Omega 3 fats before my next blood test
