Have a read of this and note all the anomalies, lack of science for the explanation, the old dogma’s etc
Have a laugh
Ooof, that was painful. And I loved how she moved the goalposts in response to perhaps the best reason for keto:
But the point of the keto debate is not comparing it to junk food, but rather the benefits of a Mediterranean-style eating plan.
And she’s following the whole 'obese bodyweight is what causes diabetes:"
With that in mind, it’s likely your type II diabetes “reversed” course thanks to the weight you lost - not the diet itself.
med diet for FFS is Low carb … I was recently in Tenerife and went to a proper spanish restaurant way away from the tourist trail and their standard meals everyone eating, mainly meat in various stews etc. Yes some bread to the side (usually made locally and not that much … some potatoes (low GI) etc .
As for the weight loss, FFS … but bet the writer is a dietician !
Good Housekeeping isn’t where I would be looking for health information. She is just keeping to her party line, registered dietician. Nothing to see here folks.
So was the picture of the salmon, nuts, tomatoes and avocado showing the Med diet or keto? To second what Ian said, I can follow a Mediterranean inspired eating plan and still be keto.
She may be a registered dietician, but I have a mantra I like to repeat whenever I read articles like this one - “someone had to graduate at the bottom of the class.”
spot on about the med diet, I am going to tapas restaurant tonight and whilst a few have bread it is very small amounts of the stuff. On the med diet as I see it you can not be quite keto but it will be very low carb for vast majority …
