I’ve been keto for 3 months and lost an initial 3 pounds and 1” of belly fat. Since the first couple weeks…NOTHING. I was recently diagnosed with hashimoto and my ND said that was why I was struggling to loose belly fat. I lift weights 3-4 times a week (heavy) but otherwise I’m sedementary. I added IF and didn’t see any weight loss. I also don’t experience that “amazing” energy everyone on keto claims to have. My labs are are great. My ND said that they were all extremely awesome except the thyroid antibodies. Any suggestions?? Can I do extended fasting without negatively affecting my thyroid??
Hashimoto and no losses
What is your weight body Fat% and the break down of your macros grams of each?
I weigh 145lbs, 5’4”, body fat is 26.5%. It all around my middle. I average 75% fat, 10% carbs, 15% protein. My blood ketones are 1.7 on average and my fasting insulin is 87.
I also still crave sweets. I never give in but it makes fasting super hard.
10% carbs with a calorie of 1200 would be 120g of carbs…way too much. Eat only 20 g Total of carb for two weeks and replace with fat.
fasting insulin or fasting blood glucose? that’s ok for glucose, very high for insulin.
I eat approximately 1800 -1900 calories and usually track the grams not %. the only carbs I eat are veggies. My net carbs are never more than 20 grams.
Seems like alot. Try less ?
Try IF ?
Try fasting ?
What carbs ? Try 5 days of 8g carbs a day. ?
Carbs are a bigger barrier to weight loss than thyroid antibodies. I wouldn’t worry about it. Plus what if the thyroid Abs never go away … can that be your excuse forever ?
As a wise person on this forum told me …
How long did it take to gain the weight you want to lose ? That long, huh ? Good things take time.
3 weeks in … you still have alot of learning and practice to do.
After 18 months of Keto … as you get better and better over time … I bet you’ll do amazing !
