Hard to fast except in weekends

(Kellie) #1

On the weekends I’m never hungry and hardly eat but during the week it’s so hard to try to do intermittent fasting. Does my body “know” or is use s to this pattern of behavior ? I try to do fasting but it’s a struggle during the week, like I said when the weekend comes around it’s a whole different story so I’m just wondering if it’s like a schedule or routine it has figured out

Depends on what you do for work/school. If it is mentally or physically intense, I wouldn’t want to fast during the week either. If you are hungry, then I wouldn’t force yourself to fast. Nothing wrong with doing it just on the weekends either.

I sit all day at work , but at home I don’t do a whole lot either so I’m really not sure

Kellie, I find this true for myself, as well. At work, I have snacks, just in case, but I seem to always be into the nuts before lunch, therefore nullifying me fasting through breakfast.

Somehow, on the weekends, whether I am busy or not, I just kind of forget about eating and can easily eat only one meal a day. I even have to stop and feed my kid a couple of times, but still am not interested in food until the evenings. It’s weird.

You could use this to your advantage, Kellie. Throw in a 24 / 36/ 48 hour fast over the weekend, a light ‘breaking fast’ meal on Sunday night, and back to normal keto eating through the work week. :+1:

I completely agree! It’s so much easier to IF during week when my schedule is laid out (and filled up) for me, but I’m much more random on weekends. Plus, like you said, more social eating during weekend!

Yeah for me the weekends are much harder. I am around food more and my family are very social eaters. During the week I work and volunteer and other than breakfast I dont ever feel hungry.

If I am not fasting I still usually only do 2 meals a day, I have a large breakfast of eggs, bacon, cheese and usually 1 OZ of almonds, I may or may not have 2 cheese sticks a piece of homemade jerky for a snack and then a small diner.

For me the hardest part of fasting is the breakfast on the weekends.

I think being aware of what is easier and what is harder for you really helps, I would do a mostly fasting weekend then move to a normal keto diet during the week.
