Happy Thanksgiving to all

#21

Happy Thanksgiving to all you great Keto-Folks! And I concur with everyone’s responses! This is one great community of friends! … I also used up all the rest of my likes on this thread, which was a pleasure.

To all our American friend’s happy thanks giving, Namaste.

I am thankful we do not have thanksgiving in Australia and I do not need to resist any temptations because they are not in front of me.:crazy_face:

PS. You guys really like pumpkin/pecan pies huh?

(The amazing autoimmune šŸ¦„) #24

Love pumpkin pie, pecan pie has always been too sweet for me, but apple pie is the best.

Hi Katie - WE don’t have Thanksgiving in Southern California. Steak, mushrooms, onions, jalapenos, broccoli, and lots of butter!

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #26

Now I am super confused lol
What do you mean you don’t have it?
I thought everyone celebrated it?

(Empress of the Unexpected) #27

I should have said our family chooses not to celebrate it in the traditional way. We (me, hubby and son) like regular food. You don’t need a turkey to give thanks. We were just all happy to be together, and happy that California is finally getting rain. And (gasp) I have NEVER cooked a turkey. Last time I had the Thanksgiving turkey was when I was around 14 and my mom made one. I like the fact that we are quite anti-social. We are not worried about anyone pushing food on us. We like to do our own thing!:rofl::rofl:

Oh well that’s good, at least you can have your own tradition

I rarely eat Turkey in general, in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten it

(Empress of the Unexpected) #29

Oh you Aussies, you. I envy you the lamb.

(Edith) #30

My husband and I used to make anything but traditional Thanksgiving food and our kids demanded turkey and mashed potatoes, etc. Go figure. :grinning:

(Karen) #31

Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for all your support!Tons of appetizers. 3 -12 lb turkeys, 5 pies, rolls, stuffing , butternut squash, potato dishes, delicata and Brussels, creamed onions, ice cream, salad, gravy, cranberry orange sauce, etc.

Me, I ate turkey, Brussels, salad! 20 friends and family. I miss my Dad.

(Edith) #32

I agree: apple pie is the best!

(Kristin) #33

On my first Thanksgiving on keto, I enjoyed eating turkey skin and the fattiest parts of the turkey!

I’m thankful for this way of eating and this forum of folks to guide and support me.

(Carl Keller) #34

In a past life, yes.

Turkey is just like a giant chicken, only the dark meat is darker and there’s lots more yummy, crispy skin to it.

(Karen) #35

Oh my gosh, I kept sneaking back to the carving station to eat turkey skin! So yummy!

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #36

I do eat a crapload of lamb

(Kristin) #37

The skin is the best.

DH and I had lamb shank for Thanksgiving. It is my favorite meat and he love it too. Nice to not have to do the family thing. I made a lovely chicken liver pate with keto almond crackers, as well. Cauliflower mash, salad, and raspberries, frozen from our garden with whipped cream. One of the best Thanksgivings ever.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #39

Don’t you have some kind of harvest home festival in the autumn? Don’t know much about OZ, except from chatting on teh Interwebz, sorry.

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #40

Do we? LOL news to me!
