Happy Mothers day 2019

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1

Hey all,

Happy mothers day. I have both daughters home so my wife will have a great mothers day with them both present. We are going to celebrate with eggs and homemade bacon for breakfast and then scallops and ribeyes for dinner. Maybe some avocado and fresh green beans.

We are going to the VMFA for (Virginia Museum of Fine Art)

Awaken: A Tibetan Buddhist Journey Toward Enlightenment

Glad you all are going to have what sounds like an awesome day! Air travel is required to get all of our kids in one place so it is not always possible. We did manage to get my wife’s mother and our daughter here. Now if I could only fix the rainy weather.

Happy Mothers day to all.

Yes, I flew to Boston on Friday and my youngest and I drove back Friday, Saturday so she can leave her car with us till she gets back from Study Abroad in December. Drove about 13 hours.

Rain, don’t get me started. It has been wet too much. I might have to cook steaks on the stove top today. Cast Iron for the win.

Thank you! Hope you have a great day with your family and your wife has a wonderful mother’s day! I spent yesterday with my mom and will spend today with my daughters

Interesting how the woman who started it as a true day of appreciation for the struggles and hard work of mothers, became appalled by the commercialization of it by the greeting card, florist, and candy industries and then spent the rest of her life trying to get her official holiday removed.

Also interesting that it was a department store owner who helped her with the funding to get it started in the first place.

We went to the Awaken exhibit a couple weeks ago. We thought it was wonderful! What did you think?

Jane

We loved it. My oldest knew a lot of the background info on Buddhism and it’s relationship to Hinduism. So I hung with her.

My brain is full and I need to post-process some of what I learned. It is extra metaphysical. Very thought-provoking. We are so lucky to have the VMFA in RVA.

That was how I felt afterwards as well. We learned so much about Buddhism. It was well worth the visit!
