One year ago, 365 days,8760 hours I started eating ketogenic and let me tell you what the past year has done for me eating this way.
I have lost 90 pounds. Each month I measure my upper thigh, hip, stomach, chest, neck, upper arms and I have lost 51 inches total in all those measurements. One year ago my H A-1 C was 7.9 now it is 5.6. My fasting insulin was 28 now it is 17. I no longer take blood pressure medicine, antidepressants, Celebrex for inflammation. My cholesterol and all other blood markers are near perfect. I have always had an issue with weight and in the past have been able to lose weight with different ways of eating but gained it back. This is the first time I have been able to lose weight and become much healthier and reverse type 2 diabetes. I hear so many physicians and nutritionist stating that this is a dangerous way of eating, unsustainable, unhealthy, and other negative’s but I will put a challenge to any of them to show me in my case how this is unhealthy. My suggestion is for these individuals to study and learn how beneficial the ketogenic/low-carb way of eating is to help reduce illnesses and many health issues in people across the world.
I am in hopes that in 2020 the new revisions to the US nutritional guidelines will suggest a much lower carbohydrate intake then they suggest now.
I would like to thank 2 Keto dudes, Dr. Eric Westman, Dr. Adam Nally, and many more that have assisted in my past years success. Here is to the rest of my life being healthy and eating ketogenic. Because of my success my personal primary physician suggested I share my journey with people so I Started a support group, well 1 support group has turned into 4 I do this all for free just the feeling that I am helping others on their journey. Larry, great post, and congratulations to you!
It will be interesting to see what changes are made in 2020 for the dietary guidelines, indeed.
Thanks for sharing, this is awesome congratulations and keep up the good work.
This is an absolutely inspiring transformation—congratulations on such a powerful year of commitment and results. The progress you’ve made, not just in weight loss but in reversing key health markers like A1C, insulin levels, and medication dependence, is truly remarkable. It’s a testament to your discipline and to how personalized nutrition approaches like ketogenic eating can have profound, life-changing effects.
The fact that you’ve turned your journey into a source of support for others—expanding from one group to four—is just as impressive. Giving back in this way speaks volumes about your character and passion for wellness.
You mentioned that it’s been exactly one year, 365 days, 8,760 hours—which also sounds like it might align with a special personal milestone. If it happens to be a wedding anniversary as well, what a beautiful opportunity to celebrate not only your marriage but your health journey too. A celebration could be the perfect way to reflect on how far you’ve come together.
And why not make it festive? A small gathering with friends and family, a healthy keto-inspired menu, and some thoughtful balloon decoration could bring the occasion to life in a fun, uplifting way. It’s a great reminder that health and joy can go hand-in-hand.
Wishing you continued strength and success on your journey—thank you for sharing it so openly. You’re undoubtedly making a difference.
