Low Fat Mozzarella cheese sticks? Is there such a thing commercially available in High or even regular fat mozz. sticks?

Jim, I don’t recall seeing it packaged as “high fat” or “regular,” but “fresh mozzarella” is usually full-fat. Even there, it tends to already be lower in fat than many cheeses.

Often, mozzarella has stuff added, in place of some fat, to improve its meltability. I guess there is thus a reason for it, other than just to be able to claim “low fat.”

It always irritated the crap out of me, to see that - “low fat mozzarella” or “part skim milk mozzarella, ricotta, etc.” “C’mon, man, if I am looking to buy cheese, I’m not worried about fat in the first place…”

yes, I’m enjoying a full fat mozzarella on my cauliflower pizza at this very moment :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: It is harder to find though, because, you know how dangerous it is too eat fat. Maybe we should be wearing helmets?!

Helewisa, a big  for mozzarella here. I love the way those ‘balls’ of it have an internal structure, like woodgrain when you pull them apart, like when you take the whole ball and eat it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just searched for these this week. Almost all are the “low moisture part skim” but I did find full fat Sorentos brand Provolone String Cheese in the area of the store with all the string cheese packs. It’s provolone instead of mozzarella and has a really nice flavor. I also ended up finding Galbani Fresh Mozzarella Snacks (sticks) in the deli area where all the fancy cheeses are. Since it’s fresh mozzarella these are much milder. It was nice to find both options, that part skim crap drives me nuts.
