Halloween Stuff

So, Hubs and I have decided we are no longer going to contribute to sugar addiction, even if it’s for something traditional like trick or treating. I feel a bit vegan-cross fit about it all, but we have decided to hand out cheap plastic crap instead. Glitter rings, neon bracelets, big lip and mustache whistles and smiley face bouncy balls. We could have turned the lights out and hid, but it’s too much fun dressing up and scaring the kiddies (actually, I tend to scare the adults more with my costumes, funnily enough.) So, Halloween lives on at the Keto house, hooray!

Good for you. :+1:t3: This has been a topic of contention in my household. I have vehemently wanted to stop supplying candy for several years now. Not only that but it is very difficult for me to have it around. :crossed_fingers:t3:Maybe this year I can turn it around.
I like your idea of cheap plastic crap. I will go in search of some!

I got ours from Amazon, they have tons of that kind of stuff and it’s shipped right to your door. The kids will enjoy picking from a big colorful bowl, even if it’s not candy, I’m sure.

Love it and I love your costume!

You are scary looking in that photo @jackieduke2003 ! Great idea.

We have found most of the kiddies do like sting cheese sticks, Costco has them in big bags. I will have to look into the plastic toys idea. Might be a new direction to go in this year. If the weather is nice we do get a crowd, if not, just a handful of kids brave it. If we have plastic toys, they will be good next year, the cheese not so much.

Love your costume.

OrientalTrading.com also has a good selection of Halloween-themed baggies, stickers, rings, toys, and spiders.

I’m fairly new to keto, but I lost almost 30 lb years ago on LC.
That’s about the time I refused to pass out candy.

We’ve been passing out glow stick necklaces since then.
Most the kids are really excited to get them.

This was such a good suggestion I was sure I could think of similar treats. The first one I thought of was hard-boiled eggs.

That was when the phrase “chicken embryos” popped into my head and I realized that becoming keto has made me into a Conehead . . , from France.

you had me at " vegan crossfit" TOOO FUNNY. Love your costume! We lucked out last year we didn’t have ONE trick or treater, we live in a townhouse that is right next to apartments and I think most people don’t trick or treat at apartments. Stickers are fun too!

I will have to brainstorm for a candy I don’t like. :expressionless:

The Halloween question is rearing its ugly head again.
Adding this link from last year on 25 cool candy substitutes. it is from a public FB page so should be sharable.

We went with glow in the dark bracelets this year. Will put them together on Halloween, a few at a time. They last about 6-8 hours. Got them on Amazon, 100 for $12, come in several colors. Any left overs we will use on our evening walks this winter.

I really didn’t want any candy in the house this year. Only my own chocolate fat bombs, my version of junk food these days.

We added small Playdoh containers this year to the mix and that was a HUGE hit with the kiddiewinkies.
