Hair loss in Keto diet

(Sanjida Tamanna) #1

Hi
I am pretty new here, and its been about 3 weeks that I have started Keto. In this 3rd week, I am noticing a lot of hair loss. I am not sure what that deficiency is that is causing hair loss. If anyone has any experience with it, please help.

Thanks

It seems to be the stress of the change of diet. It happens on other diets, too.

You can help reverse the hair loss by eating to satisfy your hunger (in other words, don’t intentionally restrict how much you eat; let your appetite guide you). Hair growth is one of the processes that gets slowed or halted when energy intake drops, and it restarts once energy intake can support it again. People eating a ketogenic diet to satiety often find that their hair growth is more luxuiant. Of course, there is a lot of individual variability in these matters, so your mileage (kilometrage?) is guaranteed to vary.

I have this issue too but it didn’t start for me until about 6 months into keto. I use chronometer to track my eating so I am able to track nutrients. According to that app, I am low in iron. I have since added a child’s dose into my supplements. It hasn’t been long enough to see a difference so I can’t recommend my approach. All of this to say maybe you are lacking something important in your diet and maybe try to figure out what that may be.

Sorry, I wish I could help, but all mine was gone before I started keto.

Thank you.

Agree that any changes or stress can cause hair loss. Taking Biotin can help

Also, because keto is high fat, you have to make sure your food is as nutrient dense as possible. Only real food, no keto junk food.
