Yep, I’m agreeing, that’s what I’m saying…I haven’t googled/searched anything yet, and i’m not looking a magic tablet, just interested as obviously somebody is making money from it, and I want to hear the evidence.
Just taking a wee break here from vacuuming. Trying to go for OMAD today, need to lose a couple of kilos after that sammich and bun maddness yesterday lol.
Had a Cheat Meal with Carb Blockers Today: Here's what happened
and you can find this evidence easily thru work on the internet you can do OH so fast.
Coop get ya truly. and I despise vacuuming, gotta do it to the house, my rv and my pool…more power to you.
and the crap food eating? YOU GOT something ya wanna say?
I am mildly curious too… But it’s not for me for sure. If I eat carbs, I want to use them and I can handle as much as I desire anyway.
But you have a point, one should research them if uses them. As it’s not something natural so probably have side effects…
It’s completely useless in some of our cases and easily makes things even worse.
And I can overeat using 5% of my stomach volume anyway… But maybe it’s helpful for some? Still sounds bad… But somewhat interesting.
Does expanded fiber keep the stomach full for long? Because whenever I managed to get full in my life (quite hard to do it accidentally but doable with liters of water), it lasted for a few minutes only, well yep, water flows out quickly. Maybe fibers last longer? It still doesn’t help when one is hungry or compelled to eat but in some cases it may… But for success, one should eat a ton of fiber all the time, don’t they? Or it’s for people who only have problems in a limited time? My overeating always happens late, for example, I am fine before.
I just know that fibers have about zero effect to my satiation and I don’t need any fiber so I just skip them. It’s almost all about the right food choices anyway, tricks just don’t help.
And I don’t need magic things as my goal lies elsewhere. I like when things have consequences and I say this with a bad bellyache, super rare but I apparently went over my limit, things just piled up very slowly… It’s very easy now as I have no options but later I need to improve something mentally.
But I am aware I have it easy, I can get away with much and have time to change slowly. It has a good and bad side, actually… If I really couldn’t handle something, that would be so easy as I wouldn’t ever want it, I like feeling okay. But I like to be able to handle basically everything edible… Especially the items I actually want sometimes. But the others too, on principle!
I do wonder if eating carbs with a carb blocker is akin to eating chocolate cake with a shot of insulin. I doubt this approach would keep the wolves at bay very well.
Alternatively, if carb blockers keep your digestive system from absorbing the carbohydrates, perhaps it’d be cheaper to simply become a bolemic.
remember also it is THE product you take too. cheapy useless ones are on the market but if one gets the ‘real deal’ all in balanced supp, even then thru my research on it is it like ‘maybe’ 5-60% something percent to even work…remember they are taking strict complex carbs. Baked potatoe, NO NOTHING on it to change the intake of what it absorbs, or ‘might absorb’
which is why is it just another BS diet pill when one researches it more in depth.
said before it works the entire planet would be saved thru weight loss issues, anyone seen it…nope and ain’t gonna!
ALL ONE wants is the carbs back, the ol’ favs, when they feel they can handle them and put them on a ‘scheduled life timeline’ we hopes suits us but again, NOPE, we all know thru truth walking the walk it just won’t go down that is way.
AND WHAT else does a targeted supp do to the ‘back’ end of your entire body system? just fs it up and more metabolism issues just will reign…will check that info also as further ref to chat this magic pill stuff
but darn we all try!! try in so many ways to KEEP the carbs and ol’ favs…tough call but us longer in this lifestyle and figured out what it takes learns one thing…can’t have it back like ya wanna if all future success continues. tough path, not a darn doubt about that!
open eyes wide and see truths! again, darn hard to do til ya gotta do just that for future success.
I actually try other things, not bringing back carbs (not like I don’t do that but I don’t wish to and work against it a lot).
I want certain food types but without the carbs.
I want to eat whatever I fancy - while eating close to no carbs most of the time (actually, while I eat right stuff for me, it is accidentally almost no plant carbs most of the time as far as I know).
It takes time but it does seem realistic.
Why would I want the carbs when they aren’t good for me? Something in me always found that an odd idea. I want some stuff that is tied to carbs, that’s problematic but see, I wrote “most of the time”. I have wriggle room. (I even can squeeze some into the “close to” part Flexible multilevel wriggle room for me! it should be more than enough.)
It’s just me, of course, it’s perfectly fine for others to do it differently. And it’s not like I don’t go off keto a lot, I just have a restricted version when I am on and it helps me more than my normal uninterrupted keto did.
We should find whatever works for us.
Hi, @Sophie_Wu.
Great that you found out you don’t need those carby foods anymore.
I wouldn’t worry anyway, because it isn’t the one carby meal that will destroy your health.
I’ve eaten carbs recently and enjoyed them a lot. Mainly carby ice cream. I also had some foods made with maize. I enjoyed them. Having said that, it wasn’t something I’m willing to be doing regularly. Not because I don’t enjoy them, but because I don’t want my blood sugar to get more messed up than it already is. I think I’m at great risk of becoming diabetic and I need to be careful.
I’m curious: these carb blockers you’ve used are real medicine, or just something like supplements? I’m asking… for a friend.
Thank you for sharing and I hope you stick around. The internet can be a wild place and many times we misunderstand someone’s meaning and think them to be aggressive. Tell yourself it’s just a misunderstanding, something lost in translation. When we talk in person, we see on people’s faces they don’t mean to be rude. On the internet, with the written word, it is more difficult to get the vibe. I often misunderstand and am misunderstood, also because English is a language I never had to speak in my life. I miss a lot of words and expressions. Language usage is a beast!
I read that great achievement in realising that the carbohydrate foods were an anti-climax. I found the same. Eating bread or rice is just bland. The delicious foods are the low carb ones in my adapted experience.
I had a period of 3 days about a month ago where I was craving hard. Sometimes it was for steamed cauliflower, sometimes very carby stuff like pizza. It was starting to drive me nuts b/c it felt relentless. At the end of the 3rd day I got fed up and made some cauliflower cheese. I used to love cauliflower, I could cut one up and steam it and eat the whole thing, but not anymore it seems. Even the cheese on it, when mixed with the cauliflower, tasted awful. I had a few mouthfuls and gave the rest to my dogs.
I don’t understand why the cauliflower didn’t taste good, but it was much more than just a tastebud experience. It’s like something in me was objecting really loudly.
I merely lost interest in cauliflower. I got close to carnivores and they were lovely and something happened and I lost interest in the vast majority of my beloved vegs.
I ADORED cauliflower, especially fried one, I had to ban it on keto as I ate at least 1000g at once. Most of us have things we can’t stop eating until the amount gets too big, I had that relationship with riced fried cauliflower.
Then carni times come and when I tasted cauliflower or most other vegs again, it was so meh I just couldn’t eat more than 1-2 bites. The taste probably was the same, I felt nothing odd, I just couldn’t enjoy it.
This change towards vegetables (the only food group I considered fixed in my life and I LOVE and usually badly need my typically several eggs a day… but I could imagine not eating them. I couldn’t do the same with my vegetables) was the most surreal that I experienced. It was an abrupt change. But very helpful, vegs have zillions of disadvantages in my case, so much better without them! (More like with the few I kept in tiny amounts. I do like my juicy slices with my richer meats in summer.)
We can change in interesting ways.
I never ever felt less enthusiasm towards my beloved fruits though. Even if it’s not logical. My body has bigger problems with those super tasty sugar bombs but multiple parts of me don’t care… Sigh. Not buying them is easy enough but I have a very nice fruit garden…
I keep it, my SO heavily depends on his daily fruit. And I get so much joy from my fruits even without eating them (I still taste them all but enjoy them even when I don’t).
And I make so many big wasps and ants and other insects happy this way… We have so much fruit that we can feed some animals, I just don’t like that the wasps bite many pears at once and potentially abandon them to bite others (when they are still unripe. but they are good canned so no big deal, we just need to take off the unripe fruits from the most popular tree at some point. good thing it ripes just fine afterwards).
Sometimes I daydream (just half seriously) about cutting off all the mean, thorny blackberries though It requires the most work too (and I never can do it for long as my thorn quota quickly fills up) and its fruit isn’t among my favs.
But I actually love all of them, I enjoy variety I decided to have all kinds of fruits (except the ones too troublesome or not desired by us at all, there aren’t many of those) and now I have it.
And they bring various insects, the blackberry is always full with rose chafers at the right time…
This could just be because your glucose / insulin is more stable now so the carbs have less of an effect, likely nothing to do with the carb blockers. I know for a fact that now, when I want to, I can go to a restaurant and eat all kinds of sugary crap as a one off special occasion and feel no bad effects at all.
If you want to have a treat once a month and think you’re physically and emotionally able to cope with the repercussions, then fine, do whatever you want to as is your right. No need to hide behind the BS of carb blockers because if they really worked the way they’re marketed, there would be many more people using them.
I had that thought myself… But it isn’t a change for me, it depends on my carb intake in the previous week, type of the carbs I eat, type of fats I eat I think, heavily processed stuff or not - and even have a surprisingly high seemingly random factor. Sometimes I eat a lot of sugar and I feel great (super rare). Usually I feel I had carbs but I am fine. And sometimes I have a few grams of sugar and feels a bit unwell (rare, again and I know the reason now. but it doesn’t happen every time even if the other conditions are met). I can’t fully predict what will happen as there are too many factors. And I am changing too.
So a single different experience may have another reason, I agree. A single test is rarely really reliable in complex situations like human body vs carbs.
Mentally, I can avoid things that I could not avoid when I started in 1/1/14. For instance, I even had a beer last night (present from a guest), and was able to not want another. I can eat carbs one day, and get back into keto/fasting.
But even I still get the effects I used to get from carbs. For instance, for ice cream, I always want more. (The best way for me to have ice cream is to go to a place where they put it in a cup/cone, as then I won’t go buy more.) And what happens is that I’m hungry after it, about 30 minutes after it. I’ll have something like ham to eat.
So, I have the benefit of being able to go back to keto, but carbs STILL cause me issues after this long.
@ctviggen
Yeah, I’m beginning to see what you mean about the nuts…especially peanuts.
One could graze away at them ad infinitum, ad nauseam even.
No off switch, piles on the calories.
I wouldn’t even buy peanuts, but I read that these were the safest nuts for dogs to eat, and my live in hound expects a cut of everything (my fault for spoiling her over the pandemic).
I wouldn’t give her pecans, walnuts, brazil nuts and certainly not dog poisonous macademia nuts.
Peanuts and peanut butter are a massive no for me, unless I’m deliberately trying to gain weight, but even then, there’s better ways that don’t give me heart palpitations and stomach pains
