Ground Beef Fat/Oil

(Stephen Howard) #1

Hi I’m on day three of the animal food/carnivore/zero carb diet. I often cook 1lb organic grass fed beef and sometimes drink/ eat the oil/fat thats cooked off in the bottom of the pan along with the meat. What is your take on taking or leaving this fat?

Eat it for sure!

Oh eat it! Or save it to cook up your eggs etc.

I have a grill that I use for my burgers, all the fat drains off into a tray at the bottom and I think the design was to then dispose of this fat, but I take that amazing fat juice and coat the contents of my plate before eating.

I think of the fat/oil as the spirit of the cow, and I would be dishonoring it’s sacrifice if I wasted it…too much? And it tastes DELICIOUS.

Like @allan, I leave a little in the pan to cook a couple eggs to top the beef with.

And all the people said amen!

Use it up.

I no longer have a jar in the fridge for bacon grease because I eat all the fat (bacon, ground beef, sausage). I believe it helps me feel satiated.

US Wellness now has Keto 55%lean
45%fat grassfed hamburger. It is awesome.

That sounds awesome. It seems like a catch 22. When I find grass fed it’s usually lean, like 90/10 or 95/5 and I end up adding a lot of fat.

Yup, just found it last week. Not a bad price either. Around 7$ a pound online

Thank you all for the suggestions. I’m going to grub down on those saturated fatty acids now!
