Grocery shopping

#1

I’m 52, years and years of shopping and being taught low fat is RIGHT, suddenly shopping full fat is hard. I automatically reach for the fat free or low fat in the stores. Not that buying that stuff ever did me good since I’m 100 pounds overweight.
I am getting weird looks with a cart full of bacon, meats, cheeses, vegetable and Lard. I’m getting the strangest looks from people. I just smile, I don’t owe anyone an explanation. When I tried to explain once I got the “keto is so unhealthy”. I found at a regular grocery store I get strange looks but at Trader Joe’s, it almost seems the norm there. :+1:t3:

I have felt so much better starting keto, more alert, more energy. I just feel better about myself.
I have lost but a few pounds so feeling discouraged but it’s only been a few weeks. I am putting so much energy into this I expect my scale to cooperate some.
We never got along :unamused:.
So I’ve read somewhere that it takes a while for your body to get fat adapted. Is that true and is that for everyone. Also my ketones sticks to check your urine for ketosis is pretty inaccurate. Is the blood test unit that much better?

Thanks

Yes, blood measurement for ketones is the gold standard. There’s a new meter on the market called Keto Mojo which promises .99 strips for life for anyone who orders as an early bird (it may still be going on). I ordered one but don't have it yet, so I can't vouch for how well it works. But, .99 is the best price for strips I’ve seen in the US for ketone strips.

I had no idea which way to go for the blood type units. I will check this one out. Even better deal with the ketone sticks. Thank you

Don’t pay too much attention to your scale. Mine, for instance, likes to mess with my head. Also, women can have trouble losing poundage, because their bodies often add muscle mass on keto, which can hide the loss of fat. Also, they have hormonal issues that men don’t have to deal with. If the scale is seeming uncooperative, take your measurements. Women often lose dress sizes before pounds.

Not sure why I never took my measurements. I did today! I’m going avoid the scale as much as possible. Maybe once a week instead of 5 times a day lol.
I have done sooo many different diets and fad but Keto is the easiest diet/lifestyle. I’ve adapted so well and it amazes me I’ve stuck with this,(quit weight watchers after 1 1/2 weeks due to the points system).

What also amazes me is I learn something new almost every day about Keto. Usually from some type of online social group. But I often find it’s stuff I’m doing wrong or need to do.

I’m using the Keto app to track my macros. Is there a better one out there?

I hate to break it to you but a scale is nothing but a stress igniter.
Number of the scale means nothing. Chase good health and the fat loss (NOT weight loss) will follow.
Get some old tight fitting clothes and try them on every two weeks. I bet they’d be fitting nicely. Maybe even loose.
Dump the scale

:raised_hands: THIS IS SO THE TRUTH!!! :raised_hands:

Here’s how I know that @Ernest is correct. In the last month, I’ve lost 12 pounds. Almost all at once. I actually gained back 3 of those 12. However, my clothes keep getting looser and my inches keep shrinking. Listen to your body. Weigh yourself if you’d like, but I only use it as a “that’s interesting” tool now.

Not getting the old clothes out yet since the current clothes I’m still wearing are tight. I will drop the scale for now. No need to stress myself out, I know I’m doing good, I feel great. :running_woman:t2::dancer:t2:

12 pounds, that’s great! Congrats!
The scale is going away for now. I’m going to focus on my keto and when I no longer have to lay down to zip up my pants, I’ll do some measurements and then maybe, maybe I’ll get the scale out. :grimacing:
