I consume caffeine medicinally, not habitually. So I don’t drink much, and when I buy it, I need it to store long term in the frig. My “ito en” tea doesn’t store well. Probably due to plastic? Anyways I’d like to know what people recommend for long term, green tea storage in the frig. I’ve tried two different glass bottle companies on Amazon. Both of which failed miserably. First broke before delivery, no refund. Second said it got here, “Put in mailbox” (the size of shoe), never came. No refund here either. So I’m at my wits end. I just want a single case of green tea, in glass bottles. I don’t think I’m asking too much.
Green Tea: Glass bottles
What about just using Mason jars? They are easily purchased at grocery stores, usually in the canning section.
Ito en - is good tea, I like the Jasmine variety they make.
Maybe the antioxidants in the tea are oxidizing when stored.
We have a grocery store called 'Natural Grocers’ which is a US chain and might be near you, they usually have nice glass bottles that are ‘shatter proof’ (I haven’t put it to the test though), but they’re kinda expensive, additionally the store usually carry mason jars and an entire isle of tea. So maybe the local health food store could hook you up with what you need.
Just kinda curious, is there a reason you don’t brew tea as needed?
You can’t store brewed green tea long term in the fridge, especially if you want it for it’s medicinal properties. The antioxidants / polyphenols won’t make it. Few days at best.
Plus obviously with green tea you need to buy quality like a real Matcha from a reputable company and not some brand like Lipton or other mega company. Aside from the waste of extra money of buying bottled Green Tea, It’s most likely already “dead”
Lipton is trash and I’ve literally vomited when I tried it the last few times, over the last decade. So you don’t recommend bottled tea at all then?
That was my guess.
I’m on the road 365 and brewing green tea can be a bit of an art. I’ve never pulled off the flavor of good bottled tea.
I don’t drink tea but, have worked in health food stores for years. Maybe try Tazo. It is organic in glass bottles and has a shelf life of roughly 12-18 months.
Oh that’s a good idea, I didn’t know Tazo had bottled teas.
I like their green tea and mint tea bags, they brew reliably.
