Green eggs and ham? Well, maybe the eggs

So no snakes of any kind in your area? I was raised around chickens in Texas, there were many of them that loved getting into the hen pen and getting the eggs. Maybe the UK doesn’t have that issue?

We’re about to get a puppy, and I wonder about that. The dog should be around 30 pounds, give or take some, as an adult. But a puppy could be an issue. Luckily, we should be outside with him/her, as we all have to learn how to care for a pup. Our first.

My colleague has chickens. They use a heavy duty movable “house”. They move the house every week or so. She says chickens are quite dirty, don’t care where they poop, and take a lot of work.

I’ve heard various stories about how much work is involved.

Our house has 4+ acres, with a lot of grass, and it was a “horse” property, so has a stall for horses. Always thought about chickens, but everyone I know who has had them has had them all killed over time. Except those that made a veritable fortress to enclose the chickens. Or who have a dog they use to guard the birds.

Ireland doesn’t, the legend being that it was Saint Patrick who persuaded them all to leave. Don’t know about the rest of the U.K., however.

The chicken faeces are good for the soil. I want a moveable, covered pen, myself, so that they can gradually recondition the backyard, which has been in pretty crappy condition since we bought the place.

Only two natural snakes here and they only live in grassy areas so not a worry at all, have only ever seen one once and that’s when I was a kid.

Highly sought after, I have a queue of people wanting it. The best fertiliser around, both for veggies and flowers.

It’s a good idea.

Edit: I asked my colleague where she got her movable chicken coop, and she said tractor supply. Maybe something like this?

Only in this forum do I learn about snake poop!
