Sounds awful! Why not just eat bacon and eggs and be happy as hell and as slender as you want to be without that much effort?

I think Danny Cahill, story is interesting he states
"but only because I am eating as very little as I can,”
I really wonder what that is? The one thing that for a lot on keto that helps is that they are able to control hunger and become satiated and control hormones. In his case it looks like he was possibly over training, I could see poor sleep injury and muscle recovery driving cortisol and insulin resistance and massive hunger.

Lost me at “Biggest Loser”. That program is not helping anyone permanently.

Lost me at the byline: Gina Kolata

She does nothing but regurgitate the low-fat, CICO-based party line.

> The study also helps explain why that might be. One consequence of weight loss among the Biggest Loser participants was a greatly slowed metabolism.

The conclusion of the study ignores LCHF options…of course…but still a very deep look into what happens to the human body when placed into extended caloric restriction while not in keto adaptation! Really, this sounds like hell for the poor people trying to make it all work for them.

I do wonder what the longer term health consequences will be for these participants with the crippled metabolisms who are attempting to maintain their weight loss through further restriction and additional exercise? Their bodies must have shut down or slowed healing, immune system, etc… and they’ll need those for all that extra wear and tear they’re putting on their bodies.

As soon as any of them even get a minor injury and can’t work out as hard…fat city here they come! Summer 2016 I injured my rotator cuff & couldn’t swim for a few months…didn’t gain a pound. Made me appreciate LCHF all the much more.

Most of the contestants on Biggest Loser have bodies that are way more screwed up than most of us here. Having 50 or 75 pounds to lose is in a different league (genetically, hormonally, metabolically, emotionally) than someone who is 200+ pounds over their ideal weight.

I think I read somewhere that most of them did follow a low carb diet. This makes sense, it’s no secret that’s the fastest and best way to lose weight.

For some folks it’s simple (though not easy): stick to a HFLC Diet, throw in IF or EF, and 3-12 months later, we’ll be at goal. For an unfortunate few, it’s not that simple.
