Gordons gin 37.5 - 20 carbs? Confused about information - please help

alcohol

Hello! I need some advice. I have had an understanding that all strong alcohol like gin vodka etc has no carbs but then I googled Gordon’s dry gin ( 37.5% NOt 40%) and my fitness pal gives me 20 carbs per 100 mil?? While 40% is zero carbs… could someone please let me know if the percentage impacts carbs or my fitness pal and other online resources are just inaccurate? I have a big event upcoming and need to understand this difference. Thank you!

There is some really bad information about that gin out in cyberspace - I’m seeing one ounce of it having 23 grams or carbs - that would be over 80% carbohydrates.

Zero is the deal. Gin, without added sugar, fruit juice, tonic water, etc. - really does not have carbohydrates.

Thank you Doug! I was really confused as to why they put that crap in there if it’s not true! You have put me at ease. I was worried that it’s because it is 37.5 and not 40 percent… thanks again! They need to remove that or replace with correct info to stop ppl like me freaking out lol

1 shot of gin (1.5 oz) is about 100 calories, but zero carbs.

So it doesn’t matter if its 37.5% or 40%? If u look online u see nyfitnesspal gives you 23 carbs per 100 ml!

No, that difference between 37.5%/40% or 75/80 Proof has nothing to do with carbs, just a small change in the alcohol content. I wonder why they even bother having two versions.

That is interesting. No need for two versions.

This site has reliable info on alcohol. And there is a 'rule of thumb" if it is white and unflavored it is 0 carbs, dry champagne 1 per 5 oz serve, red or white wine 2 per 5 oz serve. Brown liquours you need to check on, they vary and the flavored vodkas etc. these days can contain anything. Probably best to just not use any of those.

MFP allows for data input from anyone. This is the primary reason I’ve stopped using MFP. That and their irritating and annoying reminders about my exceeding fat limits, which I set very high.

Cronometer is far more accurate. Check it out.
