Going to try a modified OMAD egg "fast" just for the hell of it

(Jay Patten) #21

Yep. 8 eggs and 1/2 a package (1 pound package) of bacon.

See I just couldn’t eat this in one sitting without feeling ill…

I don’t know if I will ever be OMAD material. :cowboy_hat_face:

This thread is pretty exciting to read. I’ve been pondering whether or not to do the egg thing for a few days +OMAD. I didn’t intend to last week, but ended up OMAD and coincidentally, had only 3 eggs and cheese that morning. Was too tired to fix a meal after work. I think, after reading this, I may make that an intentional plan for M-TH next week. I’ll be at work 10 hours on each day, and likely will not feel like eating afterwards.
Another little bonus…it is beginning to warm up in these parts, so my chickens are laying more eggs. Don’t have to worry about shopping now, either!
Thank you all for the idea!!!

I’m looking forward to starting it on Monday. Today I hit my first stall since starting keto, and after freaking out a bit, I’m keeping calm and ketoing on, but I’ll definitely be mindful of portions. Last week I did 5 eggs, 2 slices of cheese, 4 strips of bacon, 3 breakfast sausages, 1 avocado, handful of porkrinds and 2 scoops of sour cream every day as part of my usual OMAD. I don’t know if not doing any of my usual exercise last week impacted my weight loss, or if the larger than usual meal size halted my weight loss. Come Monday, I’ll just do 6 eggs, butter, and a little cheese, and hope that I experience the same kind of weight loss everyone else that does the egg “fast” experiences

In regards to the stall I mentioned in my last post 2 days ago, I don’t know what was up with that, but decided to extend the fast I was already on for the rest of the day, and yesterday morning weighed myself, and lost 3lbs. overnight, so back on track.

Egg diet starts today through Saturday, then I’ll slowly transition out of it by reducing the number of eggs greatly, and adding in a small steak with a side of cheesy cauliflower daily for a week after, then I’ll probably do another week of eggs, followed by another week of my regular keto. Based on other’s results, I’m expecting to drop at least another 12-15 lbs (as opposed to my usual 8-10) pounds throughout the next 30 days.

This should be fun.

I wouldn’t really call that a stall, I’ve gone 4+ months at a time without the scale moving. Could just be water being held some which is why your down 3lbs. 6 eggs and butter a cheese doesn’t sound like a lot? In not sure how the just egg fast goes, are you getting this from somewhere or just winging it?

(George) #27

Yeah I’m assuming it was water weight. The conventional way of doing it per all the blogs/articles on it is between multiple meals per day, with a minimum of 6 eggs/day, with 1 tbsp of fat per egg, and a few oz. of cheese.

I’ve been doing OMAD for a while so I’m going to keep that going instead of eating throughout the day. I’ll bounce around between 6-7 eggs/day. Last week I ended up making a 5 egg scramble with a little sour cream, avocado and a handful of pork rinds one day, and I was stuffed., so I’m just going to eat till satiety like normal.

(Ashley) #28

Didn’t realize that was 1 fat per egg and cheese! Sounds suffice!

(George) #29

I hope it is! I whipped up an egg salad for dinner tonight, the 7 eggs I used doesn’t look like a whole lot in the bowl, but it sure is dense!

(Ashley) #30

So what was the 7 tbl fats you used?

(George) #31

Mainly mayonnaise mixed with a couple tbsp of butter. I added more things just for flavor, but none of which affects the carb/fat/protein intake
