I’m still fairly new here and reading through I’ve seen lot’s of posts about nuts (the food kind:grinning:). I too had a problem with putting on the brakes and limiting my intake. Here is what I did to get a handle on it. I absolutely love pecans and walnuts so I now roast them with butter and mineral salt and then toss them in the freezer after measuring out 1 ounce portions. I use the small snack baggies. Now when it’s dinner time I am much more likely to enjoy my salad or other veggies knowing I have a delicious topping ready to go. Sometimes I do hear them calling but this way I feel I get more of a “reward” from them in the end. Maybe reward is not the healthiest way of thinking about it but I can’t think of a better term at the moment. Anyway - my two cents.
Going Nuts!
Walnuts are a steady part of my diet several times per week. Yes, there’s a carb tax. On the days when I plan to consume them I arrange my other meals to take the walnut carb tax into account. I think the positive qualities of walnuts make them an excellent part of my plan. I also eat macadamias. I’d eat pecans, as well, but they’re the most expensive of the three and so I don’t. Well, OK, once in a long while I’ll go for them.
@patricklfw That sounds like a really good idea, Patrick. I am sure that it would stop a lot of people from binging on them. Great tip for everyone, thanks!
So far I have not bought any nuts since starting Keto (but I have bought Almond Butter, although I only used it in a few fat bomb recipes early on, so it is sitting in the fridge now).
