Going great!

(DALE M PHILLIP'S) #1

Going on my fourth week, down 22 pounds and my diabetes just hit a new low, 87 AFTER eating two low carb burgers(three hours later). I haven’t seen my glucose that low, ever!
My energy levels are thru the roof, actually have a hard time falling asleep at night.
Any tips on that??

Good job on your success so far Dale.

Something else that helps me is the sound of my oscillating fan. Ambient noise can drown out all other distracting noises like barking dogs, the sound of pounding feet on the floor above, a loud tv in another room etc… and have a soothing, relaxing effect. Another example of ambient noise is the sound of gentle waves on the beach or wind-rustled trees. Even during the winter, I will sometimes turn my fan on if I’m having a difficult time falling asleep.

Congrats on your progress thus far, @Brawneyman64 :+1:

I actually have Music playing every night for this very reason. Blocks out everything else I don’t want to hear and I have been doing this for many years now.

Try cutting out electronics/screen time before bed. I have used blue blocking glasses in the past (lost my good pair), and now am a fan of sleep masks for total darkness.

@Brawneyman64 just a drive by attaboy and * swoon * over your photo

I get up at 4:30 am to run. That and some wine with dinner and my insomnia is gone.

Really great Dale. I would ask you to consider caffeine consumption. When you go really low carb most of us experience a lowered tolerance for caffeine. If you’re drinking coffee in the afternoon it might be worth limiting it to the first couple of hours after you wake up, at least it’s worth a try. I have cut my coffee consumption by more than half since I started keto. I just don’t often feel like I am going to fall asleep in the afternoon if I don’t drink some anymore. But I do sometimes when my sleep is poor. It’s gotten better but I’m still trying to get improvement there. or :coffee:

Still going strong, down 60 pounds now. Started going back to the gym, gotta get those guns back!!

Enjoy the energy! Sometimes I have it, sometimes I don’t – usually I don’t. But I really did when I was new to keto.

I was under-sleep’d and youtube moved to this video today

And I promptly got the other 90 minutes of sleep I needed – fabulous “variable white noise” but better.

Welcome to the forum, Dale and congrats on the pounds lost and the diabetes numbers, that is awesome. The link that @CarlKeller posted looks very good =).
