Going crazy trying to figure out what's wrong

I don’t think that i could go back to sweetened coffee ever again, since i have a keto coffee in the morning, with unrefined coconut oil. Tastes like a sweet coconut latte!

I tried MCT oil today and even though it says no taste I tasted it in everything I put it in , maybe the texture of the oil throws me off ? I’m not sure but it’s gross. I will cook with it but probably not put it in my liquids again . I’m trying to eat more fats because my macro calculator says I need like 111 grams a day which I find hard to accomplish with only 80 grams protein . Protein is easy for me it’s the fat I’m like trying to bulk up on . I’m thinking of getting nuts like almonds and snacking on them while I work or something

i find you sometimes have to scoop oils into your food to hit your macro numbers for fat. It’s very hard to find a food source that is mostly fat. MCT taste depends wildly on the brand you buy. higher prices usually means a cleaner MCT with no taste.

As a result of the transition from carb burner to fat burner, exhaustion is not abnormal. Your body is undergoing huge alterations in metabolism and hormone function. I can almost guarantee this will pass and you will find yourself needing only the 7-8 hours of sleep anyone else requires.

Thank you for your response

I’ve never measured my ketones so I don’t know how they’ve gone up or down but I have been having results.
I do know several people that have had stalls with different sweeteners including stevia. I don’t believe coffee affects ketosis at all.
You’ve only just started and you lost some weight before keto so some of the water loss that is big in the beginning was probably already gone in your preketo diet.
I think the tiredness hit me at about the same place you are at. I think adding salt is a good idea. We lose a lot on this diet and also we take in less as we eat less processed garbage. (I also got crazy energy later and couldn’t sleep well and added magnesium citrate at night and that helped with that and with leg cramps I developed. I’m 4 months into this new way of eating and feel much better! )
Oh, and please measure! Inches were often lost while my weight flunctuated. Your clothes will get looser, and as my waist was reduced I could bend down easier.
Do be careful with nuts. It’s easy to over eat them so maybe have a premeasured amount if you will snack on them at work. Also realize when you eat them that you will raise your insulin a bit which can effect your weight loss. But in the beginning I ate snacks too until my appetite naturally diminished.
I add butter wherever I can. I also use coconut oil often and even like to eat a spoonful now and again. I don’t do bulletproof coffee, though many do and that is a easy way to add some fat if needed. Dr Ken D Berry found that adding heavy whipping cream to his (bpc) caused him to stall so he just uses butter in his now. We’re all just a little different and have to see what does and doesn’t affect us.
Keep calm and Keto on!

And 7. Maybe you don’t lose weight at the moment: you lost fat but gain muscle.
Or no water to lose already, yet the fat is not lost at the moment.

My next door neighbor says she will keep an eye on me in case anything happens and she has to dial 911. She is predicting either a heart attack or a stroke😂. (I ran out of pork rinds yesterday and she almost had to dial 911 because I thought I was going to have a stroke.).

Hey Kellie! After a while, this will feel normal, I promise you. And eventually, you won’t feel deprived, because your cravings WILL dwindle away. It just takes time, I promise. You’re going to get to a point where you look around, and you’ll see the insanity around you of people addicted to carbs or being thrown around the glucose rollercoaster.

You see those little kids screaming for a cookie. And parents being like “have some apple juice or a gogurt instead!” :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

You’ll start to notice how your coworkers are zombies right after or right before eating. :woman_zombie::zombie:‍♂

You’ll see the people around you trying to “move a little more and eat one less cookie”. And how that doesn’t help them one ounce. Or the people exercising religiously, being miserable and hungry, and only losing a few pounds for their efforts. And then they’ll blame themselves for it.

You’ll hear all the addiction-like bargaining talk people have around food. “Well, I didn’t eat cheesecake for lunch, so I’m going to have this brownie now.” “I’m going to eat this pasta and just go for a run later.”

You’ll start to feel a weird sort of pity for your glucose-burning and metabolically deranged friends. They’re perpetually scared of the delicious fat that could help them off the rollercoaster. And then you’ll feel thankful that you’re not on it anymore. And if you just keep marching forward, eating high fat low carb will start to feel like your new normal.

Jennifer
A wonderful post, and oh so true! I look at what other people are eating around me and just smile and wave! They think I am nuts and vice versa. I just know who has the science on his side! And the bacon!
